He’d managed it eventually, dragging the heavy door open while still pressing Nate against his body. Zeke’s heart skipped a beat when the door closed down in a thud. It sounded like a bang in a quiet surrounding like this. Zeke almost expected someone snatch it ajar the next second. But no one did. Nothing happened. Zeke calmed his fast-beating heart. His red GTO was waiting across the parking lot. He was going to make it. They were going to make it. It didn’t really work, his poorly-made effort to be calm. His heart was still pounding.
