“I hope all thy questions were now answered, dear Tanya.” The guardian stated after Tanya was brought back. “Thy world you’re in right now is a world created to answer thy prayers. Yesterday was your 23rd birthday, thus, you were brought in this world today.” The guardian explained.
“But why?” Tanya asked.
“That was the condition that thy heavens doth to make sure that you were still the person who prayed sincerely even after maturity hits thy self.” The guardian carefully explained.
But Tanya shook her head sternly upon that reply. “No, not that Guardian. I am asking why a lot of things are different in this world. Yes, I remember praying to have these riches back then. But praying for everyone to change and vanish? I don’t think so.” Tanya whined frantically. The encounter with Samantha earlier flashed in her head. Her only friend just told her that they’re enemies! Her ONLY friend!
“Balance.” But the guardian only gave a vague reply.
“Balance?”
“Yes. Equal to the concept of good and evil. Everything should be balanced, dear Tanya. And as such that you will receive thy reward, it also cost you something else in return.”
“What?” Tanya confusedly uttered.
“It’s because nothing in this life is received for free, dear. One has to sacrifice one to achieve one. Why? Simply for balance. And in this case, thy riches are equivalent to thy relationships. Friends. Enemies. Family. You will still have them here. Yet, only in an opposite manner.”
“You gotta be kidding me.” Tanya can’t believe what she’s hearing. Those conditions are simply unfair! She will lose Samantha for money? No hell way would she agree to that.
Tanya was already firm to reject this world however, she realized something from the guardian’s words earlier. “Wait. Did you just say family?” Tanya hopefully asked. If she understands the principle of this world correctly, then it must have mean that in this world, both her parents are alive. Right?
Yet to her disappointment, the Guardian slowly shook her head as it understands what she meant. “I’m afraid but those relationships mentioned only applies to people that thy know personally. As I was born from you, my consciousness and memory reflect thy self. As such, any memory of thy family is not available. In other words-”
“I’m still an orphan.” Tanya stole and finished the sentence herself.
“Yes.” The guardian sadly confirmed.
Tanya heaved a huge breath in disappointment. “Then send me back. Now.”
“I’m sorry but-”
“Do you really expect me to stay and live in this world after those unfair conditions that the heavens or whoever it was that made it?” Tanya cut the guardian’s words again. And this time, she was already fuming mad and disappointed. “I have tons of money? So what? That’s the only thing that I have in this world, right? No Samantha, no Parents, no Mr. Tan! No people that made me feel like I am not alone! I can help with those money? Well, guess what? I can also do so before. It was maybe in small amounts but at least, I’m still doing it and the people I loved and cared are still there! Now tell me, guardian. Is this world really an answered prayer for me? Then why does it seem to be a punishment rather than one?!”
“Calm down, dear Tanya. The heavens have thy reasons. And I know that it’s for thy own good.” The guardian calmly replied.
“That’s bullshit! I don’t care about their reasons. And calm down? How exactly should I do that? If you really are from me then you would know that I only have one friend! Just one! And yet in this world, you made her an enemy? How am I supposed to react with that? Applaud? I ain’t no saint, guardian! Just send me back, now!”
“I know. And I understand thy sentiments dear Tanya however, I can’t grant thy request even if I wanted to. The heavens are strict. They wanted you to stay and live for 100 days in this world. Then after that, thy self will be free to decide whether to stay or be sent back. That is an absolute rule dear Tanya, thus, myself has no power to go against it.”
That reply made Tanya more furious, yet helpless at the same time. However, the fact that she can still go back after a hundred days, made her calm down a bit.
“I sincerely apologize for not able to help you, dear Tanya.” The guardian sadly spoke again.
And as Tanya was already a bit calmed, the sincerity of the guardian’s words made it through her, thus, she nodded in response.
Tanya suddenly felt tired so she sat back down to the bed. And when she did, that was when she realized how soft and fluffy the bed actually was. And as she roamed her eyes inside the room, her eyes feasted on the luxurious displays of figurines, appliances, gadgets and furniture. She knew that each and every one of them are expensive. And she can’t possibly afford them back in her original world. But knowing that she owns them here, weirdly comforts her heart a bit.
This is the luxury that she prayed for, for so long. And if the heavens wanted her to experience this, then she will now gladly obliged. She is still bothered about the fact that Samantha hated her but since it’s only for a hundred days, she can endure it. Besides, as the woman regards her as an enemy, a frequent encounter would be out of question.
With those positive thoughts lingered, Tanya finally came up to a decision. “Fine. I’ll live and stay in this world for 100 days.”
The guardian smiled at that.
“But I’m definitely going back, guardian. So be sure to come and pick me up after a hundred days. That decision is final, so better not be late.”
The guardian nodded. “I will. See you soon then, dear Tanya.”
And with those departing words, the guardian vanished in thin air living Tanya alone inside the master’s bedroom of the Gasque’s Glass Walled Mansion.
