Chapter 25: First Success

Tanya stared at the monitor in front of her intently. She just saw how Sasaki entered the building without a problem earlier. She and Haru were inside their headquarters, looking at the monitors from the camera’s installed around the premises of their target laboratory while Monty and Morty are on standby near both the entrance and emergency exit of the target building. Haru has already briefed Sasaki about her escape routes once she plugged in the flash drive so those places are where Sasaki should exit. “s**t!” Tanya looked at Haru when she heard that. “What’s wrong?” She immediately asked. Everyone who also heard him from their wireless earphones also tensed up. “We have a problem Miss. I checked the security cameras of the Airport in Japan just in case, and the program I installed detected the chemist’s face waiting at the departure’s area.” Haru replied while hastily typing on the keyboard. “What? Didn’t you delay her flight for a day?” Tanya stood to look at the screen where the said Japanese is being recorded. It really is her! “I did. But she swapped a seat from someone scheduled today. I already checked and her flight will be in 15 minutes.” Haru worriedly announced. “Then that means, we only have until lunch.” Morty calmly joined. “Given the situation, we need to change to plan B. Shall we, Miss?” He asked, waiting a go signal from their leader. Tanya stared at the monitor before giving a reply. If the real chemist is on her way, there’s a huge possibility that she might contact someone from the building. If that happens, Sasaki would really be in danger. She has no choice but to change plans. “All right. Listen everyone. Let’s change the current plan to plan B, just like Morty suggested. Pearl, Sapphire. You’re on. Gilbert, let’s do some adjustments. I want you to go to the local police and be on standby. Opal, you replace Gilbert and prepare the chopper instead. The rest of you, you already know your assignments. Move now everyone!” Tanya ordered hastily. Then suddenly… “Hang on. Something’s going on.” Haru said, halting everyone’s movement. “Can you see it, Sir Monty?” He asked. Monty, who was stationed across the entrance, also saw what Haru meant. “Yes. I can see it. Is this your doing?” He asked Haru. “No. Someone else attacked them. I am still not in.” Haru replied. What’s happening right now is similar to what he did four years ago with that building he was held in. It’s a novice attack of a programmer by turning on all the emergency measures of the building. “It’s Dr. Martin.” Sasaki’s voice suddenly cut in inside their line. “Sister!” “Sa!” “I’ll give the details later Miss-” “Where are you? Why did you turn on your device?” Morty asked rapidly, halting Tanya’s incoming questions as well as Sasaki’s words. Tanya and Haru exchanged looks. These two. They’re too obvious! “Calm down, will you? I’m already on my way out, can’t you see?” Sasaki replied in an annoyed voice. And while the two continued to bicker, which is heard by everyone at the same time. Haru then noticed a notification on his left screen. He looked at Tanya and mouthed “I’m in” then proceeded with the transferring of data from the laboratory’s server to the local police station. He also stopped the security measures for fire to prevent wetting some important files that will be used as evidence. After a few minutes, with enough evidence sent to them as well as what they seized on the spot, the police arrested every personnel “working” at the laboratory and the building was closed for good. That was when the very first success of Iskudo, was recorded.       [9pm, Iskudo’s Headquarters] The night after their first successful mission, Tanya gathered everyone inside their Conference Room. “Today was nerve-wrecking and there’s also that sudden changes of plans, yet, thanks to some coincidental accidents, we emerged victorious.” Tanya announced. Her eyes shifted to Sasaki. “So, thank you so much Sa. This victory is considered yours.” Sasaki smiled and nodded. “This is just the beginning Miss. All of our incoming missions will also be successful, I vow to that. Right?” She asked everyone around. “That’s right.” And they all agreed. After sharing details of what happened, the meeting was finally over. Each of them went back upstairs and continued their night like the usual except for Tanya, Haru and Monty. “That Dr. Martin that Sasaki mentioned, I don’t see any details from him. I already looked deeper from him through security websites, yet still no avail. He has no criminal records as well. Just like he’s existence were erased.” Haru reported to Tanya. “Erased?” Monty asked. “Yes Sir.” Haru replied. He scribbled something to his computer and showed the files he dug up. “I tried to match his face with some criminal records, but none. However, when I used the country’s confidential list, I noticed something unusual. I checked it and saw some traces of previous information for him but then suddenly, they vanished. It’s like, the system is coded to delete his files once it’s being found.” “That’s strange.” Tanya commented. “And suspicious.” Monty added. Tanya quickly nodded in agreement. “Try to dug more from him, Haru. I think something is up with that man.” Tanya ordered. Monty walked towards the monitor and looked at the photo on the screen intently. “I suggest you use international records kid. I feel like we can find answers from there.” He told Haru while staring still at the photo of this certain Dr. Martin, a mysterious Chemist.       At Ninoy Aquino International Airport, a man walked inside the departures area. He stopped by to a nearby trash bin and threw a white jacket inside. The he dialed someone from his phone. “It was successful however, it was not me who made it happen. Someone- no, some people interrupted. Geez. If only I knew that some people are targeting that place, I shouldn’t have been wasted my time there. So, what now?” “I like it.” The person he’s talking to over the phone said. “I am already tired of your ways. Why do you always use such novice way? Aren’t you the greatest programmer, alive? That’s so not cool man.” “Shut up. I like it classic.” He said. He remembered how his delayed program was stopped by someone. Well, all is still well, so he has no complains. “Classic? I don’t think so.” The man teased him but he ignored it. “I’m now going to the next location. Make sure your accommodations are better this time. I’m warning you.” He warned instead. The man over the line just laughed before hanging up. Guess he’ll be staying to cheap apartment once again. Damn those CIA’s!
