I couldn't leave. I walked out to my car, started it, and sat there. Needless to say, I understand mates more now. But my mate is human, more fragile than others. The chance of her merely slipping and falling and being severely injured from it is so much more likely than others. I thought about our night together as I sat in the car, staring at her door. She's so breathtakingly beautiful, and she has no idea; in fact, it's more like she sees herself complete opposite. Everything felt perfect tonight, and when I pulled her close, it was two puzzle pieces sliding together. I know she can feel the bond to some extent, but it's not as strong for her.
