-Diana's POV-

A vast sea. A forest really but a sea of trees.

I stand on a cliff looking at the beauty of this world. A world that helps me forget my own sorrow and grief.

With a smile, I take a step forward and let myself fall. A fall that most likely would kill a normal human or even a normal supernatural being but that is not the case for me. I am more than what I seem after all.

I land safely, just like a cat would, and then I take in a run. My long hair flips as the wind hits it in a wild manner. I feel wild when I run in nature like this. It is a place barely touched by men.

I end on a small river bank where the steam is just to my ankles.

As I have done often of times before, I lie on the flat rocks as the water passes by me, not caring that I am getting wet.

I look up at the sky where my mother shines on me, big and bright. And as I do many times before, I talk to her but she never responds back. Not anymore anyway.

"You grace us with your presence yet gift us with your silence. Why, mother?"

There is no anger in my words. I have known her to be this way always and I harbor no anger towards her but I almost gasp myself out of existence when finally, she speaks.

"Diana...daughter..."

"Mother!"

"Diana...my favorite and most loyal of my daughters. My creations... my children... they need your help. Help them, Diana. You must go!"

I gasp. "Mother?"

It has been centuries since I heard her voice but as always, it is like beautiful music.

---A few days later---

I lay eyes on a beautiful golden-eyed man. I haven't seen the likes of someone like him since the four. He is a gifted one.

"Yes?" He spews out. "Who are you?" His inquisitive words hold anguish. I can hear it in the vibration of his tone. I can feel it by his aura.

The word "kindred" comes to mind. Somehow, it feels like we are the same. We both have been through plenty of sorrow.

Putting those thoughts away, I take in a deep breath before I speak. "Shouldn't a gentleman give his name first before asking it from a maiden?"

"If there was a gentleman in this room I would say yes but all there is here is me, a tired, bitter, and angry old man."

"Old? Hardly." I whisper. "Diana." I say, giving him my name.

He stares at me almost as if he dares to hope, but I can see he crushes that spark and bitterly responds. "Marco. What do you want?"

A fall that most likely would kill a normal human or even a normal supernatural being but that is not the case for me. I am more than what I seem after all. "Mother!" "Diana...my favorite and most loyal of my daughters. My creations... my children... they need your help. Help them, Diana. You must go!" I gasp. "Mother?" It has been centuries since I heard her voice but as always, it is like beautiful music. ... My eyes abruptly opened to the dream of what happened a few nights ago when Mother contacted me for the first time in so long. I get up and pat my clothes from the dust of the ground where I was sleeping. I look at the still night sky. "I must be close." I mutter. " I can feel it. I am close to where I need to be." I have let my legs lead the way because what else was I supposed to do with the little information Mother gave me? She didn't tell me where to go. But I know how life and the universe work. Things happen for a reason. If I am meant to be somewhere, I will get there. I have lived in forests and woodlands for hundreds of years now, but I have stepped into the world of men from time to time. Not my cup of tea. I prefer the solitude and serenity of the forest. But I know that I am getting close to a city because I start to hear the bustling sounds of the city. It is a different sound from nature. I take off running in the direction of the sounds. Car horns, a multitude of people talking, music. I immediately stop when my feet almost reach the end of the forest. I kneel down and study what is in front of me. "What... is this?" I whisper. I see people walking about in groups eating odd things. "Oh, this must be a modern carnival. I remember these." I am in shock at how mortal humans risk their lives on such contraptions. But then again I shouldn't be surprised. Humans are reckless. They believe the world is theirs and nothing can touch them. Boy, how wrong they are. If they knew what lived in the shadows... I look at the female humans and what they wear. I then look down at my own clothes. "Pretty sure that wearing a bear hide and rogue wolf pelts with fangs and claws as decorations would be considered... crazy." I go back to the forest and find a secluded spot next to a tree where I dig a hole. Then, I take off almost everything that I am wearing except for my pants, boots, and my magical bracelet. My pants and boots are old and worn out but they are the only things I have that look somewhat normal. I bury everything I took off. The autumn weather is welcoming now that I am in half of my birthday suit, as they say. Not too cold but not too hot. The spark with loud explosive noises in the sky takes my attention. "How... beautiful... and horrible too. That noise could kill a poor animal out of fear." Once the display of lights is done, I make my way back to the edge of the forest but for obvious reasons, I hide behind the trees as I scope the area. "There!" I see a stall in the corner that sells many things, including some black shirts. They hang from a rack in the corner and it is close to the edge of the woods where I am. I run out and before anyone can see me, I quickly grab a few shirts and dip back into the forest. I look at the shirts that read "Friday The Thirteenth" in red-blooded colors. Even though I am perplexed as to what this means, I try the shirts on until one slightly fits. It's tight and shows just a bit of the stomach but is the one that fits the best. "Perfect." I say pating the shirt. I finally walk out of the forest and I take everything in. There is strange music playing. *Song* "He did the monster mash (The monster mash) It was a graveyard smash (He did the mash) I caught on in a flash (He did the mash) He did the monster mash" "Music has... changed..." I whisper. People can be heard laughing and screaming. It is a strange vibe. "What in the world?..." I stop when I hear screams as a man in a mask chases a person with a really noisy mechanical blade. "Oh... that's a ..." I think for a few seconds. "Chainsaw!" I say to myself, remembering the contraption. I then realize that this person is in danger. I am about to sprint into action and help the human but then the humans around start laughing. The man being chased then takes out a small flat rectangular box. The man and the masked man stand side by side motionless for a few seconds as they stare at the small black box. I get closer to try to understand what is going on because I am really confused. Is that a camera? Is that how they look now? The human turns to the masked man with a smile. "Thank you, man! That was awesome." The man starts waking but puts the camera on his ear and starts talking. It's not... a camera? Even more confused now, I look everywhere around me. People in costumes, pumpkins with faces on them. "OH! All Hallows Eve!" I say. It is that month. The month when humans go mad and run around in mocking costumes. I remember this from nineteen ninety-four. That was the last time I was among humans. "Mh... humans and their strange holidays." I mumble. I look around. "But now what?" I ask myself. Mh... I guess... just walk. And that is what I do. I walk until I find myself out of the carnival. This is when I notice that I am not in the city but I can see it from here in the distance and I feel drawn to it. So I just keep walking. The further I get from the carnival, the fewer people I see but I continue on. Soon I am walking down a freeway that leads to the city. I had forgotten how chaotic the human world can be and when I say world, I don't mean that I was in a different world but being so long in the deep woods does make it feel like it was another world. After an hour or so, I finally am on the edge of the city. I continue walking and see all sorts of Halloween decorations displayed on store windows and in front of houses. They really take this seriously. Not once do I stop. I look up at the sky and judging by the way Mother is situated, I know it is around midnight. The night is getting just a bit chilly but I know I'll be fine. I'm used to all sorts of temperatures and weather. Suddenly, as I am walking, a man cuts in front of me but it doesn't seem like he does it on purpose. The man looks almost like a soules husk of a man and though I don't know him, I do feel bad. "Sorry." He mutters. He walks up some stairs of an old-looking building. The big black double doors in front of the building are intriguing. Decorated with a snake on each door. As I reach for the door handles, I stop, feeling the magic that comes from inside. "This... is it..." I say. I feel it. This is where I am meant to be. I open the doors and go right in. There is no one in sight. Not even the man I had seen earlier. The place looks like a palace if I've ever seen one. White walls, marbled floors, and a huge shiny chandelier in the middle of the ceiling. I walk around for a bit. I hear voices here and there that travel through the halls but never really see anyone. I end up in a library and with what I have seen so far, it seems this is a school. Okay... a school... but not for humans. There is too much magic here for this to be a human school. "Alright... where to now?" I go out through the doors and as I walk, I end up back at the entrance. I start walking up a set of stairs on the right that lead up to the upper floor. There are many doors up here but one in particular catches my eye because it is slightly opened. I walk to it and open it just a bit wider. "Dammn it... where is it..." I hear a man's voice mutter. I notice someone leaning down on the other side of a desk. I hear the scuffing of him looking for something in one of the drawers. When he gives up, he straightens up in his chair. His eyes immediately go to me and quickly his expression changes to that of caution.
