EPISODE 31- TAKEN BY SURPRISE

The adventurer party was now inside the cell where the captured creature was brought. The cell was able to fit five people inside, the cell was lighted by a single torch that was sticking out the walls.

“So what should we do now?” asked Karl who was fully equipped.

The village chief Caleb, who Karl questioned answered, “I actually don't know, but this thing is our only lead to the missing girls.”

David who was next to Karl also spoke his opinion, “But how can we interrogate it, if it can't talk and understand human language. ”

The three then gazed at the creature with a frustrated look. Until one of the guards running towards them yelled, “Chief Caleb I brought Cyrus with me.”

“Let me see this creature that you captured,” spoke Cyrus who pushed the guard aside. “Oh, I see this creature, hmm if I remember.”

Cyrus then snapped his finger before speaking again, “I think they are called Dark Crawlers, but these things aren't ordinary monsters.”

“What's not ordinary about them asked,” asked David.

“Well, you see these things, aren't like ordinary monsters that could spawn anywhere, these things can only be summoned by a high ranking dark mage as their minions to do their bidding.”

“A high-rank dark mage? Excuse old man Cyrus, but could you say what rank would that be in an adventurer. ” Asked Karl as he held his chin to think about the things he heard so far.

“I would say the mage I've seen use this kind of magic, is somewhere between B to A-rank adventurers.”

“Seriously!” spoke David with a surprised tone.

Bella suddenly appeared behind the men and spoke, “Then this mission was really not meant for us if that's the case, hey chief could you put up another request.”

“I'm afraid I can not do that miss Bella because I have used up all the money we currently have for this request.”

David then went near to Bella and whispered, “Hey what should we do now? Even how hard we will work, we would definitely fail this quest. ”

“This is very frustrating, I can't believe we're gonna fail our first quest E+ quest as a party. Wait, what if we call some back up to help.”

David then looked dissatisfied with Bella, he then asked, “But who are you going to call for back up?”

“Of course him, hehe.”

“Who…wait you mean Destroyer? Now that I think about it he would definitely be worth calling here, but the question is how long could he arrive here.”

“Don't worry about it, David.” Bella then walked near Caleb and asked, “Does this village have any crystal ball communication or hawk delivery service.”

Caleb replied, “Well there is a hawk delivery service just near the gate, I'm not sure if they're still open though.”

“But can you pull some strings to send some emergency letters to the town of Leora? You know this could help the problem of your village chief.”

“If it's for my village then I would gladly do it, miss Bella.” Caleb then walked out of the cell along with Bella. But before going to the hawk delivery service center, Caleb looked at the guards and gave an order.

“Everyone we will implement a stricter the patrol for the night, and those who will be left here guarding that thing don't ever let that escape.”

“Yes sir!” replied the guards to Caleb.

After that Caleb then looked at Bella and spoke, “Let's miss Bella.”

“Oh before I forgot, Marcia and Karl help the guards in their patrol. Lucy and David help the guards guarding that creature.”

“Roger ma'am!” spoke the three.

“Roger Gorilla woman!” spoke David.

“Who are you calling a gorilla woman!” Yelled Bella to David who was smiling. Unlike before Bella wasn't able to hit David as she was dragged by the village Chief Caleb.

Village chief Caleb and Bella arrived at the hawk service center. The room they were in had a counter where a young man in his twenties stood. Bella was writing a letter requesting for Destroyer, but the address was sent to the guild in Leora.

After finishing the letter Bella gave the letter to the man behind the counter. The man then put a hardened clay wax in the envelope and stamped it with a red hit iron stamp. The engravings in the stamp were then carved into clay wax.

The man then out it to hawk which had a small backpack in its chest. The man in the counter then spoke, “This letter would arrive in two hours to your guild.”

“Wait that's fast! But how?” asked Bella.

The man then pulled three scrolls below his counter and answered, “Because of these scrolls, normally I would charge triple the price of the normal delivery price If a scroll is used. But my sister is one of those kidnapped girls, so I am willing to do anything to help in her search.”

Bella then looked at the man who had the face of determination and the feelings of loneliness.

The man then carried the hawk near the window which had an extension ramp. The man then started to use the scrolls on the bird.

“Scroll of speed, Scroll of navigation, Scroll of teleportation.”

After finishing the usage of scrolls the man then released the hawk who started to fly away from the village. But as the hawk was about thirty meters away from the ground a magic circle suddenly engulf the hawk.

“Looks like the teleportation spell has been activated,” spoke the man in the counter. “With this, the message would surely arrive in two hours.”

Caleb then thanked the man and walked away from the counter towards the door. But as they were walking Caleb suddenly noticed a strange shadow on the dark corners of the room. Caleb then pulled his dagger from his boots and went to a combat stance.

Bella also noticed the sudden change in the air, so she immediately pulled her emergency dagger, she wanted to use her bow and arrow, but the room was to narrow for it to be used.

The enemy then emerged from the dark corners of the room, revealing itself to the three people inside the building.

“A dark crawler!” yelled Caleb.

“So there's more of them, guess I have to capture this one too…”

Bella's speech was then caught off as the dark crawler launches itself towards Bella. Which she immediately blocked by slashing her dagger. The dark crawler then jumps backward after being wounded by Bella's dagger.

Caleb then used this chance to attack the crawler with his dagger. However, the crawler evaded the attack and countered the village chief with scratch to the chest.

After receiving a hit Caleb jumped three steps backward. “Damn! These things are agile,” spoke Caleb.

The creature then started to hop on the ceiling of the building and pushed itself toward Bella and Caleb for an attack. Caleb immediately reacted by using a skill, “Dagger dash!” he then suddenly disappeared but appeared near the approaching crawler.

His dagger was already in position for a s***h, the distance between his dagger and the crawler was just two inches, ensuring for a sure s***h. But the creature bent its body and used its feet to kick Caleb back to the floor.

However, an arrow suddenly appeared behind Caleb catching the crawler off guard, this caused it to be shot directly in the head. The creature then falls on the floor, the man behind the counter then used this chance to rushed forward the creature with a machete.

He then thrust his machete towards the beast heads, “Give me back my site you filthy creatures!” Blood then splattered around his face as he thrust the machete multiple times toward the creature.

“That's enough!” yelled Caleb as he restrained the man.

But as Caleb became busy in restraining the man, Bella's scream for help behind him resounded. This caused him to react quickly by turning around and dashed forward Bella, who was now held by four crawlers that were now sinking down to he shadows on the floor along with Bella who was struggling

with the crawlers.

But Caleb was too late to come to Bella's aid, “Damn it!” screamed Caleb as he punches the floor where the crawlers disappeared.

Meanwhile, Karl and Marcia were walking along with some guards patrolling the village. They were at the back of the guards, Karl was looking at Marcia back and forth admiring her beauty.

Karl then looked away from Bella and grabbed something from her satchel. He then looked at a ring which he held tightly, he then took a deep breath, it was like a man gathering his entire courage to speak.

He then turned to his right and spoke, “Hey Marcia I've bee...Marcia??” Karl then became confused as he did not saw Marcia, not even a strand of her hair. He then looked and saw Marcia's golden staff laying on the ground.

Karl suddenly turned pale upon only seeing her staff, he then grabbed it and started to yell her name. “Marcia! Where are you!”

The guards patrolling heard it causing them to turn around and saw Karl running carrying Marcia's golden staff.

One of the guards then asked his comrade “Where is he going? Wait, why does he have the healers staff?” The other guards then looked behind them and also saw Karl separating from them.

“Don't tell me the little lady was also kidnapped!” spoke one of the guards. After hearing this the commander of the guard then yelled, “s**t! You three go help that knight finding his girlfriend. You two looked at the alleyways, you four left we'll continue our patrol!”

“Yes sir!”

Back at the cell, David and Lucy along with three guards were starting to get bored. David was even getting sleepy until he was slapped by Lucy.

He then yelled at his comrade, “What the hell is your problem!?!”

“Prepare David, something is coming, four of them, no five.”

David immediately draws his sword after seeing Lucy's serious expression. He even told the guards guarding to keep their eyes peeled for any surprise attack.

“David! Under you!” yelled Lucy, as three arms stretch out from David's shadow holding his legs.
