EPISODE 9- REFLECTION

After hours of searching for an INN, I was able to find one that allowed me to stay. The owner was very nice, she was a lamia, a human with the lower body of a snake. She was very beautiful with pink hair and lush white skin, and her red snake scales complimented her beautiful red eyes. You wouldn't know that she was forty years old because she even looks like a woman in her mid-20s.

I approached her to ask some questions regarding the town. Which she happily responded even with my scary look and size.

“Mrs. Sazar, since I am new to this town I would like to inquire about some information?”

Mrs. Sazar, the lamia that owns the INN I am currently staying showed a sweet smile before she spoke. “No problem Mr. Destroyer, but please stop calling me Mrs, you know I am already a widowed woman.”

“So sorry about that Ms. Sazar, I just kinda got used to respecting woman.” That was a lie though, I would drop kick any woman that uses her gender as an advantage against me even she is in the wrong side.

“Despite your look Mr. Destroyer, you are very nice and caring. This is why I can't understand why those other INN owners threw you out like some sort of homeless guy who can't pay. ”

“Please do not worry about that Ms. Sazar, as I am able to find your humble establishment. Also, I managed to find a beautiful lady such as you Ms. Sazar.”

The lamia owner then blushed after hearing my words. She then spoke in an embarrassed voice, “You are such a player with your words Mr. Destroyer. Let's just get back to the topic you wanna talk about.”

“Uh! Yeah, so I wanna know the ruler of this town and the kingdom I am currently in. Also, can you tell me about the neighboring towns.”

“The ruler of this town is lord Ethyl Casio, this town is under the territory of the kingdom of Descarga. Which is ruled by his majesty Lorenzo Von Howitzer. The nearest town here is the town of Elveic which is three days by walking and half a day by horse. The nearest big city is Balmoral which will take you about a week if you walked and three days if you rode a horse.”

As we were talking, a young woman with the same red colored hair interrupted us. The young woman was in her teens, I bet 15-18 years old. She had scales near her cheeks. It was Ms. Sazar's only daughter with her late husband, she was half human and half lamia.

She was born without a tail but the scales of her mother can be seen near her cheeks. She was also a beauty, she probably received her mother's characteristics. I could even imagine that Ms. Sazar looked like her when she was younger.

“I brought you food Mr. Destroyer,” spoke Sazar's daughter. She then put down a bowl of porridge in my table.

“Were very sorry Mr. Destroyer if this is the only food we can offer. Our business hasn't been going to well. Currently, we only have four customers in this INN and that includes you Mr. Destroyer.”

Now that I look around the place I am the only one here, and there's no other customer. Also, the place seems to be almost a run down INN which needs a lot of repairs.

“Why business has been bad lately Ms. Sazar?”

“Frankly yes, we aren't even capable of paying the maintenance for this INN with our earnings being too low. But please do not worry Mr. Destroyer, as we didn't accept you here just because we're desperate for money.”

“Please do not worry about that Ms. Sazar.”

As I was talking to Ms. Sazar I heard a stomach grumbling. I immediately located the source of the sound and saw Sazar's daughter looking embarrassed.

“Maya! You already have dinner!” scolded Sazar to her daughter.

“Please do not worry about that Ms. Sazar, ” I then gave the bowl of porridge to Maya, who is Sazar's daughter.

“Are you sure Mr. Destroyer?”

“It's ok Ms. Sazar, I have already eaten at the guild before I went looking for a place to stay.” That was a lie though I really don't need to eat anything, as I am already a machine.

“T-thank you Mr. Destroyer, ” spoke Maya as she digs into my porridge.

I then ask Ms. Sazar, “May I know where my room is Ms. Sazar?”

Ms. Sazar gave me a skeleton key and spoke, “The third door on the right upstairs.”

I then stood up and spoke to Ms. Sazar, “Then I will take my rest now, goodnight.”

“Goodnight to you too Mr. Destroyer.”

As I got upstairs I noticed the wooden floor below me creak as I walk. I was even creating small earthquakes that vibrate the entire second floor. As I was walking, one of the doors next to the door of my room opened.

A beautiful blue-haired woman wearing a see-through nightgown got out and seemed pretty annoyed. She then looked at me with an annoyed gaze, not minding that I could see her undergarments with that get-up.

She then started to point her finger and yell at me.

“HEY DO YOU MIND KEEPING IT DOWN! PEOPLE NEED TO WORK TOMORROW SO COULD YOU KEEP THE SHAKING DOWN!”

I looked at her and apologized but she only slammed her door rudely at me.

“Geez what a b***h!”

I then went to my room which I opened using the key that Mrs. Sazar gave me. The door was wide enough for my body to enter but the height wasn't suited for my body. So I crouch down a little to enter my room, but after passing the door I was able to stand up again.

But the ceiling was almost near my head, about a few inches near. I couldn't even raise my hands in this room. I then looked at the bed in my room and noticed how small it is.

“I guess I shall sleep on the floor tonight.”

Xyra then spoke to me, “You do not need sleep sir, but you need to turn off your body to prevent overheating.”

“Is something gonna happen to me if I overheat!?”

“Not that level of bad sir, you will only lose 80% of your mobility, but you will be able to be fully functional again after your body's temperature decrease. ”

I then looked around my room and noticed a mirror giving me a reflection of what I truly look like.

I then stood up in front of the mirror and spoke to myself as I describe my new normal look.

“Uhh, the armor that was inspired by the game H*LO but only three times bulkier, and much heavier. The helmet that was inspired by the game D*om.”

“This eight feet height, and my weight of eight tonnes. Also this matte black color scheme with yellow accents in my armor. This is definitely my avatar in the game. ”

Destroyers were designed to be a perfect killing machines designed by militaries all over the world. So a destroyer cannot feel hunger, pain, and emotion. Truly making them a perfect killing machine for war.

That's what the developers of the game described the Destroyer. So I am now a perfect soldier, a perfect killing machine. But how do I really go up against a powerful opponent who can use magic? I have only fought enemies that have a higher level than me but have a lower status.

“Would you like to shut down sir? ”

“Would I remain defenseless?”

“You can turn on the self-defense mechanism when you are currently off. This will reinforce your body with a high voltage of electricity. ”

“Then how can I turn myself back on?”

“You can set a timer, but normally you would only need to be shut down for two hours. If something triggered your defense mechanism then you will be automatically be turned on. ”

“Turned on? That sound kinda pervy?”

“No, you are the only one thinking it's pervy. Also, you can set a timer when you want to be awakened.”

“Fine, set the timer to 0500 for me to wake up, I still have a big day ahead of me tomorrow. ”

“System shutting down, in 3, 2, 1, shut down.”

My field of vision became an empty void of darkness that seems to lasts for an eternity. Nothing but darkness, this feels somewhat kinda lonely and eerie. I also cannot dream anything I only see is darkness, I felt like I was a blind person not seeing anything.

I have spent looking at eternal darkness for an entire eight hours.

0500... System booting up.

I then saw my HUD (Heads-Up Display) show up again after that unpleasant time with darkness. I immediately stood up and opened my window, I then took a gaze upon the rising dawn. I immediately got out of my short door and went straight downstairs.

I saw Ms. Sazar cleaning some tables so I greeted her good morning before I left the INN. She even yelled to me, “Aren't you going to have breakfast Mr?”

“No need Ms. Sazar!” I replied and run off to the guild where I can take some missions and get promoted immediately.

Upon arriving at the guild I was immediately greeted by Bella who arrived at the same time as me.

“Yow! Mr. Destroyer!”

“Oh! Hello Bella, Uhm, where are the others?”

Bella answered me with her usual mischievous self, “Why, you don't miss me? That kinda makes me sad Mr.”

“I know you're not sad I can tell it from your heartbeat.”

“Kyaaa! Looking into a maiden's heartbeat, how perverted of you Mr. Destroyer!”

“Since when did that became perverted?”

“Just kidding Mr." she then let out her tongue teasingly in front of me.”

“Let's just get in so we can do our jobs, but seriously where are your party members.”

“Well, Karl and Marcia said they were going to the orphanage as a priest asked them to help with the town's orphanage because a noble close to the princess will be doing charity work. ”

“What about David?”

“Well, he said he was going to do some training in the mountains by himself, also he said this to me. He wants to beat you in the future Mr. Destroyer.”

“Then I'll be looking forward to it, tell him that. Also how about Lucy, what's she up to today.”

“If I remember correctly, she wanted to get food that is coming to this town today. I remember it being called Ice Cream, which they say has been invented by an alchemist and the only merchant selling it is coming here today. So she doesn't want to take any chances and went straight to the town square, where the merchant will be setting his shop.”

“So they will be busy, except for you?”

“Yes,” she then suddenly block my way and asked something.

“How about we join together for a job, you know I've just been promoted to E-class thanks to you Mr, so how about I'll help you get to the E-class by partying with me for a job temporarily.”

“Now you have my interest, then speak more of this idea.”

“Well, we can take the lowest E+ job if we have a team that has an E class adventurer paired with an F class adventurer. So the two of us would be perfect for this, this would even allow you to have a better chance of getting promoted.”

“Then let's party up.” Bella and I went to the receptionist, which was the beautiful miss Lora. But as we were choosing our jobs in the job request area. I suddenly felt a hand tap me in the shoulder, I then turned around to see who is it.

To my surprise, it was the burly lady examiner, who was now looking fine than the last time I saw her.

“You! You were quite skilled I might say, there has never been an exam taker that defeated me that fast. ”

Bella looked at the burly lady and greeted her, “Oh! Miss Ann Marie, how's your boyfriend?”

So this muscular lady is Ann Marie, but as Bella asked about her boyfriend she suddenly cried. Bella immediately apologized to Ann Marie.

“I'm very sorry! I never thought that you two broke up. ”

*sniff* That's ok Bella, I guess my love life isn't the luckiest.

I don't know what I was doing joining in a girl's talk, but even though I don't have any emotion I was able to give advice.

“Do not worry Ann Marie, I'm sure you will find the right one.”

“Really!? *sniff*”

“Yeah the right man will come, so do not fret.”

“Maybe you're the one for me!” spoke Ann Marie after she wiped her tears. “So why don't we go on a date.”

“No thank you! I might get crushed under pressure.”

“That's worth a shot to a man strong as you, but I do have to wait for the right man. Thanks for the advice Mr.?”

Bella spoke, “Destroyer! Ann Marie”

“Thank you Mr. Destroyer, also please look after Bella she's sometimes a troublemaker.”

“Sure, but where are you going?”

“Well, the guild master asked me to investigate something. So I have to take my leave now, bye-bye.”

After Ann Marie left us, Bella and I finally found the job where we will work together. It was killing the monsters near the perimeter of the town.
