EPISODE 32- THE LETTER

Lucy dashed forward David with her Kukri knife, she then slashed the arms that appeared in David's shadow. David then moved backward from his original position in thinking that another attack would come.

Lucy who has now become alerted observed the surroundings with her keen senses. She suddenly aimed her kukri knife below, where multiple arms suddenly stretch out. But Lucy was agile and quick, that she reacted immediately by jumping and releasing skill mid-air.

“Water s***h!” Lucy yelled as she swings her knife, which suddenly released a pressurized water s***h. The water s***h then cut the arms clean, causing the now cut off arms to sink back to the ground.

But as Lucy landed back to the ground she immediately turned to her back and did multiple slashes, as a figure suddenly materialized behind her. After releasing the slashes she immediately jumps backward and saw the figure already slashed.

“I see, we are getting attacked by dark crawlers,” spoke Lucy as the full moon gave light to the surroundings revealing the full form of their attackers.

The guards who were in charge of guarding the captured crawler left the cell and run to Lucy's assistance. David also rushed toward Lucy, to also provide his help.

But Lucy looked at the guards and spoke, “Don't need help just guard the crawler.”

“B-but miss!?!”

“Hey, the crawler in the cell! ” yelled one of the guards as he saw multiple crawlers emerge from the cell's floor. The guard then rushed back to the cell in hopes of stopping the escape, but it was too late as the crawlers rapidly sink down back to the floor.

Numbering about five crawlers then started emerging from the ground rushing toward Lucy. David immediately swoops in front of Lucy and swings his sword as the crawler rushed forward Lucy. Three crawlers we're then sliced by David's oversized sword in one swift swing.

However, two were able to get past his swing and contained their advance toward Lucy. “Watch out, Lucy!” yelled David, as he turns around to chase after the crawlers that evaded his attack.

Lucy did not move but instead uttered these words, “Shadow Step, ” she then disappeared instantly, but the crawlers dashing towards her were immediately beheaded, as she also instantly appeared behind them.

The headless bodies of the crawlers then dropped down to the cobblestone road. But after a few moments, the bodies were suddenly engulfed by a dark shadow sinking the crawlers back to the ground.

“Damn the crawler we captured escaped.” Spoke David as he went back to the cell holding the chains they used to restrain the creature.

The guards who were originally guarding the cell went to David and prostrate themselves, “Were sorry for this failure!” spoke the two guards.

Lucy who was still outside the cell tried to observe the surroundings again, but she noticed that the threat had already disappeared. She then put her knife to its sheath, she then fell down to her knees and let out a sigh of relief before speaking, “That was close.”

“Hey, are you guys ok! ” yelled by multiple guards approaching Lucy. “We saw the little lady flying in the air and was releasing an attack so we came here to help.” Spoke a man which seems to be the commander of the group.

But as they arrive near Lucy, the commander saw the two guards in the cell prostrating themselves in front of David. Causing him to dash toward the cell, to see the reason for the guards to react like that. When he arrived at the cell, he was greeted by a confused David. “Hey there, could you help me with these two.”

The commander then looked at the two, but what really caught his attention was the creature they captured was nowhere to be found. This caused the commander to look at the guards with an angry look.

“What the hell happened to here!?!” yelled the commander.

“We're very sorry, Ishmael we have failed our only one duty to help with this crisis.” answered one of the prostrating guards.

“You should be sorry, now how could we find those girls if our only lead disappeared!?!”

Lucy suddenly held Ismael in his shoulder and spoke, “Sir Ishmael, these guards came to my aid as I was being oppressed by multiple enemies, so they were also doing their duty. So please do not be angry with them sir Ismael.”

The two guards then looked at Lucy with teary eyes. Ishmael then looked at the two and spoke, “Fine I'll tell the captain to let you off lightly.” The two guards then smiled after hearing Ishmael, they then said “Thank you,” to Ishmael.

As they were gathered in the cell a familiar voiced suddenly yelled, “Guys! Is Lucy still there!?!” the voice came from a man running carrying a bow, upon the figure got closer the man was Caleb.

David then moved toward Caleb and asked, “Chief Caleb, are you done with helping miss Bella…??” David then looked at the familiar bow which is clearly Bella's. His looked and tone then turned into a worried one as he asked the chief another question. “C-chief w-where-is Bella, why do you have her bow?”

“She's been captured by the crawler, I'm sorry I couldn't protect her.” Spoke Caleb as he gave Bella's bow to David.

David suddenly felt his legs lose straight after hearing Caleb, he then uttered “No way.” He then fell down his knees, and tears slowly dropped which he tried to wipe.

As David became emotional another voice yelling another name of their comrade came near them, “Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!” the voice came nearer, they then saw the source of the voice which was Karl who was sweating and breathing heavily. He was also accompanied by guards which seems to be searching for Marcia.

“Hey, you guys did you saw Marcia!?!” spoke Karl to Chief Caleb, but Caleb answered Karl. “No, she's probably been kidnapped by the crawlers, along with Bella.”

Karl suddenly had a surprised worried expression, “Bella is also missing… t-this is impossible.”

Caleb then held Karl's shoulder and spoke, “Don't worry Karl, I will do everything in my power to rescue your friend.” Caleb then looked at the guards and yelled, “Everyone gathers around my house right now, as we are going on a hunt after a few hours of rest.”

At the cave where the jester-like man can be found, was now looking at the two unconscious girls. Which were carried by the crawlers, the jester man then spoke to the crawlers. “You only got two out of three maidens! Well do not worry and be frightened, we only need two so it's still not a failure. Now bring those two along with the other maidens, because tomorrow we will start our ritual to summon the dark lord.”

“I can't wait for tomorrow to arrive, but I have to prepare the final steps for the ritual.” The jester looking man then summoned more crawlers which emerged from his shadow. The man then ordered the newly summoned crawlers, “Now my child guard the forest and the entrance to this cave, as I prepare the necessary things.”

The crawlers then started to move out of the cave, as their master got out of the magic circle that he has been standing on. “Seems like there will be no upcoming problems and delays with this, huhu! I'm starting to have goosebumps just thinking about the destruction it will cause this kingdom and its neighbors. Finally, I can achieve the goal that I have pledged to her. ”

Back at the town of Leora…

Damn it's already sunrise and thank god the babysitting quest has already ended. Now, time to claim my reward for this quest, I hope I don't get scolded by Lora, just like the man-eating rat quest.

I never thought that I had to leave some rats for the other F-rank adventurers, but because I took all of them down, most of the F-rank adventurers have even lesser quest than before. Now most of them are not able to earn enough money to even pay the rent, good thing dungeons are still available, but they really hate me so much now.

I then arrived at the guild, where no one was still around. “I am the first one here, uh?” I then looked around and saw Lora cleaning the counters. After seeing her I immediately went towards her.

Lora then ceased what she was doing and greeted me,“ Good morning, Destroyer you're early today, may I help you with something.”

“I'm here to claim the reward for the quest, but just like before. Give it to the other F-rank adventurers that really need money as my apology for taking all of those rats.”

“You know you didn't have gone overboard about that quest, you wouldn't get this much hate. Just remember to follow the instructions of the quest next time, Destroyer. ”

“Yeah, I'm very sorry about that.”

“Oh, that's right Destroyer, a delivery hawk that came from the Grudo village has sent this letter addressed to you.”

“For me? Who is it from?”

“It's from Grudo, if I remember it's the village where your friends took a quest.”

“Village, you mean the Camilla adventurer party.”

Lora then went back to cleaning while speaking to me, “Seriously even how much hate you receive from the other guild members, I'm still surprised that you still have friends. You must treasure them cause if you don't I'm pretty sure that you will not be able to find people like them, especially with how much hate and jealousy you are receiving right now.”

“I'll keep that in my mind, miss Lora,” I then left the counter after saying those words to Lora. I immediately proceeded to the quest area, but before picking for a quest I read the letter that I was holding.

I tear the seal of the envelope and pulled out the letter. The words that were written were very unfamiliar to me, but I was still able to read them. After five minutes of reading the letter, I immediately went back to the counter and spoke to Lora.

I then asked, “Lora can you please tell me the way towards Grudo village?”

“Is there a problem, mister?” asked Lora.

I wanted to tell Lora about Bella finding something dangerous, but the letter Bella wrote specifically said to not tell the guild. I don't know why she doesn't want me to tell the guild, but I guess there's a reason why Bella doesn't want the guild to know.

I replied a lie to Lora, “No there's no problem at all, the party just wanted me to go there, to show off their new skills, also to probably to bond with them. ”

Lora then smiled at me and spoke, “Wait here for a second mister. I'll just go to my office to get something important.”

After three minutes she returned from her office carrying a map. She then laid out the map in the counter and gave me the directions to the town, but the problem is, I'm not really good with maps, so Xyra was recording it, no she didn't record it, she copied the entire map of the kingdom. Too bad that Lora didn't show up with the map of the entire continent.

Probably they don't have one, because maps are considered valuable information at this age. Especially with the current warfare that this world has, where information about the enemy's territory is your greatest advantage.

After the explanation of miss Lora, I immediately left the guild. I was kinda excited about this, as I was finally able to use something that I have unlocked. But before using it, I had to get as far away as possible from the town.

After walking about one kilometer away from the town, I then went into my menu and summoned it immediately. After clicking the logo, green dust out of nowhere started to gather and created the thing I was excited about.

After three minutes, the dust was able to create the Moto GX5: Anti Gravity Motorcycle. I immediately got on it, which suddenly activated the engine, gauge, and anti-gravitational system that causes it to float about eight feet from the ground.

Xyra suddenly asked me, “Would you like to drive it manually, sir? Or would you like it to be on autopilot mode?”

I am kinda excited to try this, so I answered Xyra, “I will drive it manually.”

“Then please be reminded that this vehicle, drives like a manual transmission motorcycle. Also, this model has eight gears and could fly about three thousand meters.”

“Yeah, yeah, now Xyra show me the map and put a destination pin on it.”

“As you which sir, but where would you like it to be put? The gauge or your heads up display (HUD).”

“Just put it in the upper right corner of my HUD,” after a second it suddenly appeared. After seeing that I immediately gripped the clutch on my left hand, and pushed the gear into the first. I then slowly pulled the gas as I also slowly released the clutch.

I have actually driven motorcycles before, but I'm not really fond of them, but this motorcycle was different in various ways, which kinda opened my childlike personality.

The motorcycle then started to move forward, but I was shocked by the acceleration that this vehicle has even in first gear which is 60 miles an hour in 2.5 seconds. I then changed the gears to reach the final gear of the vehicle, which is probably the gear to reach it's cruising speed.
