CHAPTER 1

ALL THE LEGENDS ARE TRUE

A white hooded figure whispered a spell not too far from where the intruders stood. A ring of fire trapped the three shadow demons who managed to pass through the barrier unscathed.

"Bultaurune..."

The shadow demons were suddenly engulfed by flames.

The wind brushed through the air and the hood of the figure's cloak fell. A fair skinned woman with long red-orange hair and blood stained eyes, smirked.

LALICE

Vampires, werewolves, demons and witches, they all exist. Together with all other mythical creatures you'd only think of reading in books or hear from bedtime stories. All supernatural creatures concealed from the mortal eye for safety. But whose safety? Is their or ours?

I smirked as I watch the demons get eaten by my flame.

"Not on my watch, demons."

It was my turn to watch over the barrier. And as always, demons would break into Beulping to claim it as their breeding ground. But of course, we wouldn't let that happen.

Beulping, a hidden sanctuary buried within the depths of the forest, is protected by the Wayji Coven: one of the most powerful covens that has ever existed together with Esem and Jeywaypi. Origins of these covens dated way back before the supernatural creatures ever existed.

It was believed that before the existence of vampires, wolves, faes and other creatures, only witches lived and they were called the First. And Hyunsuk, the head of Wayji coven, was believed to be a member. That's why he focuses more on witches rather than other supernaturals. Particularly elemental witches.

Elemental Witches are supernatural creatures that has the abilities of a witch but can also influence the elements such as Wind, Fire, Water, Earth, Light and Darkness. Also, the most rare: Spirit.

Flames danced on the palm of my hand. My element is fire and they say it suited me well because I'm short-tempered, impulsive and cannot be controlled. Well, I am all of those things but I am what I am.

"Lalice. It's time." A familiar voice from behind called. I slowly turned towards Roseanne--my best friend. The fire instantly disappeared and the ashes of the demons was blown by the wind.

Born calm and composed, Rosé--as we all liked to call her, represents her element very well. Like water, she does not resist. She flows with gentleness and serenity. Whenever there's an obstacle in her way, she doesn't go through it like I would. She would rather go around it with never ending patience.

Though our personalities are the exact opposite, we were still inseparable.

"Are they already here?" I walked towards Rosé--who was also wearing a white cloak, and clung onto her arm. "So we'll finally join them in the modern world?"

"I hope so."

The two of us, being the youngest of the bunch, was ecstatic. We've been dreaming of living outside the Manor for years and we've trained hard to be able to fully join the coven.

"Lalice. Roseanne. Just in time," Jisoo--the eldest amongst us elemental witches in the manor said as we entered the manor. Like us, she was also wearing a white cloak. "Sajangnim's in the great hall. He's waiting for us."

Jisoo has Earth as her element. Like her element, she is grounded, centered and strong. The energy within their group comes from her. Also, she is very motherly and takes good care of us.

"Bigbang are here too." We all turned towards the newly arrived cloaked figure.

"Jennie, where've you been?" I asked as the figure removed her white hood.

Jennie, the wind's bearer. Innovative and outspoken, this witch doesn't give a s**t about anyone. Like the wind, no one can control nor touch her. But she is open-minded and can quickly adapt to anything that comes her way.

"Just here and there," she answered. "Let's go before the elders get pissed at us."

We nodded and followed her.

As we entered the great hall, a cloaked figure in silver sat on the throne placed at the center of the elevated platform. Five figures in golden cloaks stood behind him.

"Blackpink..." Sajangnim said.

The four girls looked at each other questioningly. The elder opened his hand that was raised at his side and conjured a ball-like mist. It was in streaks of both black and pink.

The color of our cloaks changed. Mine and Jennie's turned metallic black as Jisoo and Roseanne's became metallic pink.

"Could it be? Are we finally leaving this place?" I thought.

"As of this day, your training as elemental witches has finally ended." The elder stood up and again, conjured a mist on his hand now in his color: white. Four symbols appeared and revolved together with the mist at its center. "Tomorrow, you will leave Beulping ang live in the modern world as the new hope of the Wayji coven."

the four of us were wide-eyed as we witnessed Sajangnim's powers. The four symbols flew in the air then suddenly disappeared. I felt something engrave in my back.

The three girls winced in pain while I stood still. I was a hybrid so my pain tolerance was a lot higher that theirs.

Being a hybrid meant that you're a cross between two or more supernatural. In my case, I'm both a witch and a vampire. So aside from being able to control the element of fire, I also have heightened senses and supernatural strength. My blood can also cure anything.

But I'm still very jealous of Jennie's powers because she can fly and and freeze things. I, on the other hand, can only jump. Jisoo can make flowers appear and Rosé sings very well. All I can do is burn things.

Engraved on their backs now are the Chinese symbols for our corresponding element. It finally happened. We're now fully pledged elemental witches of the Wayji coven!

"Dara, CL, Minzy and Bom will pick you up tomorrow so be prepared. The portal will close after ten minutes it had been opened."

Sajangnim then clapped and he disappeared. The five men that were left took their hoods off.

"Congratulations, ladies," Jiyong--or as everyone calls G-Dragon, said. He sports red hair.

Among all other members of the Wayji coven, only he has the element of Spirit. He can give life and take it too. The element of spirit is so rare that only worthy supernaturals can possess it.

"We look forward to see you in the modern world," Youngbae said. He mastered the element of water and Rose's idol.

"Good job, kids." Daesung patted Jisoo's head lightly. Both had the same element: Earth.

"You can stay with us once you're in the modern world," Seungri said. He has platinum blonde hair and like me, had fire as his element. "We can all go to different places and have fun. You can also score us some gir--"

"Seungri." The youngest of the five cloaked men immediately shut his mouth. With his pink hair, Seunghyun just gave a nod to the girls. He controls ice--the combination of water and wind. Did I mention that Jennie has the same ability?

"We'll take our leave. The portal will close soon." Jiyong hugged us like the loving big brother that he is. So did the other guys with the exception of Seunghyun. He doesn't do hugs. "Be careful as you exit Beulping. We wary and always be alert. We'll see you in the modern world."

We then bade them goodbye and like Sajangnim, they disappeared. As soon as we were alone inside the vast hall, we squealed.

"Oh my goodness! We're finally gonna go out of this dungeon!" I exclaimed as I threw my hands in the air. Rosé giggled with Jisoo as Jennie just smiled a bit.

We're all excited for what the modern world has in store for us.

I woke up from my nap when I suddenly heard a loud bang on my bedroom door. I also heard screaming. On reflex, I bolted up and ran out of the room.

"Wolves!" Jisoo screamed. She was shaking as she breathlessly stood in front of her. "They got in--"

A loud scream echoed within the walls of the Manor.

"Roseanne!" I was quick enough to see two cloaked figure in black forcefully dragging Rosé out of the Manor. "No!"

A line of flames stopped the hooded figures and immediately turned to look for another exit. I jumped from the view deck down to where the bastards stood. 

Mutts. I should've known.

"You filthy dogs! Let go of her!" I hissed. My fangs can now bee seen.

The hooded figure smirked. "I thought I smelled a blood sucker somewhere."

"I can smell your dog breath miles away." I raised my hand--ready to cast a spell on the filthy creature.

"Hex me and I'll bite her," the wolf said.

"Not if both of you turn to ash fir--" Jisoo stopped me. "Ya!"

"A wolf's bite can kill, Lisa!" She warned. "She's not a hybrid like you. She'll die instantly."

"Let go of me!" Jennie yelled from somewhere. I turned towards her direction and ran to punch the werewolf. "Thanks--Yah! They're getting away!"

Jisoo raised her hand and clenched her fist. The ground shook and a chuck of the ground blocked the doorway. I then quickly moved closer to the mutts and kicked their asses. I was able to grab Roseanne and move her to safety.

"Thanks Lis."

The hooded creatures got on their feet and transformed into wolves. But before they could attack, I raised my hand clenched my fists, engulfing the bodies of the two in flames.

"Lisa!" Jennie warned.

A wolf was about to attack me but Jennie froze him. I kicked it and it broke into pieces.

"I can sense more of them around." Jisoo warned us.

One by one, the wolves in their human form appeared surrounding them.

"You killed our brothers," one said--pertaining to the ashes on the ground. "You will pay for this."

"You attacked us first!" I hissed and was about to burn them when Jisoo stopped her. "You were about to abduct our sister and trespassed in our sacred grounds!"

"It is the sacred duty of EXO to protect the modern world from vile creatures such as yourselves," another wolf in human form said.

"Vile creatures?!" I scoffed. "The only vile creatures in here are you shape shifting mutts."

"Says the blood sucker." One replied.

"Leave or you all will suffer the same fate as those three!" Jennie warned them.

"Then prepare to fight."

The hooded men all turned into wolves and once again started to attack us. Shadow demons suddenly sprouted from nowhere. We were gravely outnumbered. But we still fought.

"Give up now, witches," the wolf in front of me said.

"Never!" I threw a fire ball at him but he was able to dodge it.

"You cannot win this fight, Lalice," another wolf was walking towards her. "Just surrender and come with us peacefully."

"You wish, mutt. Why would we even go with disgusting pieces of s**t like you?"

"For your protection."

"What? Did you hit your head or something? Why would you--of all creatures, protect us? We're perfectly fine with Wayji--"

"They's just using you girls. They're going to use the four of you to wipe all mortals in existence."

The fight suddenly stopped. The girls and I looked at each other.

"We were instructed to bring you to Esem to prevent Wayji from killing mortals and from using you girls as a tool for mass destruction."

"Your sajangnim is evil. He only wants supernaturals to rule the modern world and with the four of you joining their army outside, the phase would then be complete--"

"Why would we even believe you?" Jennie scoffed. "Everyone knows that the wolves despises the Wayji coven because your creator Sooman was defeated by Sajangnim. This might be just a plot to get back at him."

"She's right." I smirked. "You low-lives are just getting revenge by making up stories against Sajangnim. But that won't work on us. Wayji never turn their backs against family." 

Backs against each other, we were surrounded by the mutts and demons. Jisoo held Jennie's hand, Jennie held mine, and I held on to Rose.

"We're losing energy," Jennie claimed. "We can't fight them much longer." 

But we had no choice but to fight. And we will fight to death. 

We fought the wolves and shadow demons head on. I burned multiple shadow demons with my fire as Jennie froze them. We were slowly winning against them.

"Just capture one!" said one mutt. "The phase wouldn't be complete without one of these girls anyways!"

"Kyaaa!" One mutt grabbed Rose as he retreated.

"No!" I burnt all shadow demons trying to attack me and ran as fast as I could to catch up with the mutts. "Give her back!"

"Lalice!"

I was too late. They entered a portal and vanished.

"ROSE!"
