Chapter 4

Michael We both cautiously entered the Alpha office. The office air thick with tension. My father stood behind his desk, his Beta Riley at his side and warrior Ben slightly in front of the desk. It was not what I was expecting. There were two males with their backs to me and Lip. One was tall with black hair and a broad back; the other shorter by a few inches with a shaved head and tattoos going up his back over his head. Looked like some sort of tribal tattoo. My demeanour changed into an Alpha wolf. These were uninvited and unexpected wolves on our land. We turned to our cold werewolf selves not showing any weakness. I notice Lip straighten up beside me also reading the room. We were called as back up without having to worry the pack. How did they get past the patrol? Wait. I knew. He was an Alpha. The warriors must have mind linked dad that an Alpha wanted entry. My father looked hostile, but from his expression, I could tell he knew the intruders. “Alpha Cameron, Lewis. This is my son and next Alpha of Red Moon pack, Michael and my youngest boy Phillip.” Lewis turned first to face us while the Alpha kept his head forward. Lewis dropped his eyes to the floor as a sign of respect and slightly bowed his head. At least he knew his place. Alpha Cameron continued to look forward, clearly not caring about mine and Lips presence behind him. I tried to recall what pack the Alpha belonged to. “This is an unexpected visit Cameron. Take a seat. How can I help you?” My father’s face was stoic and his voice cold. It was disrespectful to show up on others territory without warning or seeking prior permission. Alphas could determine the act as a declaration of war. My father hated it. Despised it. Then it clicked. Alpha Cameron of the Nightshade Pack's territory was situated on the other side of town, away from Baal City tucked into the mountains. Their pack around the same size as our own. We had an alliance with the pack, mainly for our trucks to pass through their land instead of going all the way round. We weren't friendly though, not in the slightest. This was a business relationship only with them receiving pay offs. “Please, forgive us for the intrusion, I meant no disrespect to you or your pack. I'm actually here as an emergency. One of my she- wolves has gone missing. I tracked her scent to the town on your border and was wondering if any of your pack members may have picked her up. She’s very important to me.” His voice was cold and powerful. “You lost a she-wolf?” Ben scoffed at the Alpha. The Alpha gave him a death glare and looked back at my father, addressing him only. Showing that Ben was beneath him and not worthy of a response, Lewis continued to remain standing and staring at us. “She was out with friends when she must have got disoriented and lost her way back. She’s ill. Hence my urgency. She needs her medication.” “A sick she-wolf? That is unusual. She must be weak.” Riley spoke disinterested. A warning growl came from the intruding Alpha. “Please forgive me, like I said, she’s important to me.” “Is she your mate, Alpha Cameron?” Riley asked, more curious. The Alpha laughed. “No. She’s not my mate, Riley. She’s family.” My father hadn’t said anything just observed the Alpha. “Name and what does she look like?” Riley's words came out icy and uncaring. “Petra. 5’2”. Chocolate brown hair that matches her eyes. Tanned skin. A small mole under her left eye. Last seen wearing blue jeans and a white top with a Bee kind on it.” I knew Alpha Cameron was glaring at my father. The pack mind link opened, my father giving the description and if anyone had seen her to say yes immediately. No one had seen the girl described by Alpha Cameron. If she wandered onto our land she would have been treated like any other rogue wolf, imprisoned for questioning. “I’m sorry Cameron; if she enters our land I will contact you immediately.” My father’s dismissing tone made the temperature in the room drop further. Alpha Cameron stood making Ben growl at his sudden movement, Lip went into a fighting stance. I placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, the Alpha wouldn’t risk attacking here. “Thank you for your time Alpha Marcus.” It was then Alpha Cameron turned to me as Lewis eyed Riley and Ben. His poisonous smile faded as our eyes met and my breath stuck in my throat. He was younger than I thought, maybe in his late 20's, we had never actually met as most communication was through telephone or emails. His face defined, with high cheek bones, a pointed nose and emerald green eyes, his charcoal coloured hair slightly falling on his forehead. His lips red and plump. Alpha Cameron stopped in his tracks and continued to stare at me, I was used to it. My eyes were unusual and this was our first face to face. He stepped forward to me. My father growling low, warning the Alpha. I c****d my eyebrow at my dad breaking mine and Cameron's eye contact. I was the next Alpha not his little weak pup. My father giving Cameron an arctic stare, watching his every move. The room reeked of testosterone. “Future Alpha Michael.” He held out his large rough hands peppered with dark hair for me to shake, gripping mine firmly. For a second Alphas Cameron's eyes flashed between his emerald green eyes and deep blacks of his wolf, both showing signs of lust, but I was unsure what had caused it. He continued staring, mouth slightly open and felt the heat rise to my face, hoping no one else in the room had noticed I was f*****g blushing. I let go of the Alphas hand first. “It's a pleasure to meet you, Alpha Cameron.” Turning slightly, never exposing my full back to an Alpha, a lesson instilled in me by my father, opening the door for the Alpha. “The pleasure is all mine, Michael.” The invited Alpha emphasising my name, making it sound somewhat alluring, stepping towards the door. “Definitely all his pleasure.” Lip coughed under his breath trying to stifle a laugh. Alpha Cameron stopped inches away from me as he was about to walk through the door, clearly hearing my brother. I dug in my heels making sure my body was prepared to change into my wolf form if he tried to strike, I’d have a better chance of taking him down in that form. “Here's my number, I hope I hear from you, Michael.” Handing me over a business card. I frowned at the unexpected gesture of friendliness and looked up at Cameron who was now giving me the sexiest smile I have ever seen. My mouth went dry and my ears heated. We already had his pack contact details, this looked like his direct number. It was hot in the office, right? The icy temperature melted away. I felt a thin layer of sweat cover my body. I cleared my throat. “Ummmm. Thanks, I think.” With that our warriors escorted the two wolves off our territory. “Do not tell me that toss pot is your mate.” Riley was the first to speak. I looked up from the card in my hand wondering who he was speaking too, finding his eyes on me. “What?! You mean.... oh...no.... goddess no. He’s not my mate.” My words were rushed and my face heated. Lip doubling over laughing. “Look at his face. Like a tomato.” I sat opposite my father glaring at Lip. “Shut up.” I forced each word out through my teeth. “Jeez. Alright brother. Chill. It's just funny because he was totally checking you out.” Lip was still laughing. “Well, he was kind of cute.” That made Lip instantly quiet, looking stunned. “I would prefer you not to get involved with Alpha Cameron, Michael. Their pack keeps to themselves and most dealings I've had with them have been tense.” My father let out a long sigh, followed by my own. “Then again, I should not comment on your personal life. Who you decide to date is up to you. Just, as future Alpha, remember you are responsible for a pack.” I nodded my head and slipped the card in my pocket. My dad was right. Getting involved with another Alpha would get messy. “Date? Dad...what you talking about....” Lip had yet to catch on and stood there with a funny puzzled face. Turning his head in a dumbstruck manor, his eyes flicking between me and my dad. Ben and Riley left the room as I was about to follow them, tousling my little brother’s hair, the phone rang. “Yes.” My fathers’ deep voice filled the office. “Ah. Alpha Ryan. Wasn’t expecting your call.” I tensed. Shit. I should have warned my dad that the big bad Alpha was going to be calling. I was too caught up in Alpha Cameron and how his hands felt in mine. What? I shouldn’t be thinking about that at all. It was clear that my father did not want to be on the phone with the Jade Moon Alpha. I also felt his eyes glaring a hole into the back of my head. “Yes. Of course. I will warn my patrol that Tom is coming. He is allowed to stay however long he wants.” Even though my father didn’t admit it, I knew he liked Tom now. It had taken Tom a while to win my dad over. It was actually hard not to like Tom when he turned on that charm. “Yes....ah....it was...good to hear from you too, Ryan.” I looked at my father suspiciously. What did he just say? My father looked back at me just as confused and shrugged his shoulders. “You didn't say that Tom was coming here.” My father slammed down the phone pretending to be pissed. “Ah man. That's great. I can show him the new run I found and maybe that sexy bar maid.” He was more excited than me to see Tom, and that was saying something. “Lip. For the...I will ground you for a year if you go anywhere near that place.” My father stood leaning over his desk, his Alpha aura filling the room, threatened Lip to defy him and the stupid pup did. “but I...” My father gave a powerful roar pushing my brother back in his seat. “You are underage. We don’t want any hassle off the owners. Ian already knocked out Ben this afternoon. I don’t want him to go all hulk on you. I'd let him give you an ass whopping.” It wasn’t a warning; it was a promise. Lip rolled his eyes and huffed. Sulking like a 5-year-old as I laughed at his sad expression. He really thought my dad would let him go to the nightclub. “Man. When does Tom get here at least he’s cool.” Lip idolised Tom. Treated him like another older brother. Constantly pestering and showing him around our pack whenever he came to visit. Compared to Tom's pack ours was medium sized. We had a big club house surrounded by a huge garden and the woods that lead to Baal City. Next to the pack house was a row of houses for the Alpha and other dominant wolves. Then the rest of our pack was scattered in our village along with a small school, the restaurants and mall. We had a medical wing in the pack house as we didn’t have many humans on out land. They would go into the human town on the border of our territory. I love the pack house and even have a room there now along with a few other wolves that are unmated or just prefer to live in groups. It's an old red brick building having four floors and huge bay windows. There’s a huge porch in the front where we can play cards and drink beer that my dad built when we were pups. I love sitting out there looking over the small village at night with a cold beer in my hand. There wasn’t a lot on our land, but we were still a big pack, the territory giving us more freedom to walk in wolf form. We had everything we needed. Lip stuck to Tom like a bee around honey. I got annoyed while Tom was surprisingly patient for a notorious Bentley brother. Polite and just as enthusiastic about my pack as my brother. There were only a couple of years between them so they had a lot in common, I guess. “He’s actually coming here early. Dropping off some proposal from his brother.” I looked at my dad in disbelief. “Wow dad. What has gotten into you, strengthening the alliance with that idiotic rogue pack by inviting them to the eclipse festival and now being all chummy with Alpha Ryan, going into business with Jade Moon?” I was just pulling my dad’s leg. It was good for our pack that we were branching out, except the Rogues, I was still a bit hostile against them, it was hard to trust them when all our lives we have been taught the danger of Rogues, it was just surprising as my dad was once set in his ways, not really bothering with outsiders, but when I looked at him he looked lost, deep in thought. His face contorted with worry. “Dad? Is everything alright.” I mind linked Lip to leave which he did without whining. He must have seen my dads’ face. “It’s nothing to worry about Michael.” I twitched, my dad never uses my full name unless in the official Alpha capacity or when I'm having a bollocking for misbehaving. “Dad? You know you can talk to me about anything. I am future Alpha if there's anything worrying you that concerns you or the pack, let me in. Let me help you.” I wanted to comfort my dad, my wolf wanted to protect his pack. My father signed. “Michael, one day you will have the weight of the pack on your shoulders, but right now you don’t have to worry about anything. Not yet.” My father turned to the papers on his desk. The discussion was over and I was being silently dismissed. I trusted my father, my Alpha. He would tell me if there was something I needed to know so I left the office. “PHILLIP XAVIER LAWRENCE.” Mags growl resonated through the pack house. “I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN IN COOKIES, YOU s**t!!!” I ran for the door. May be I'll pop to the nightclub and pay the deposit for the VIP package for my birthday, I needed to get away from Mags, that was the perfect excuse to get out the pack house without looking suspicious. I grabbed my keys as I sprinted to my car only to find Lip there waiting, pale faced as if he had actually been caught with his paw in the cookie jar, knowing that he was in for it. “Quick. Get the car unlocked now. Hurry for goddess sake. f**k I think she’s coming.” He kept frantically glancing at the house pulling on the car door to get in. “Calm the hell down Lip.” I clicked open my black sports Mercedes when my Alpha ears picked up the sound of quick feet moving from the kitchen. Mags was on our tails. “Aaaahhhh! s**t! s**t! s**t! Lip this is all your fault!” Literally flinging myself into the car grabbing my seatbelt. “What?! You had one, too! You're the next Alpha why are you running? Wimp.” I growled at Lip for questioning my Alpha power. My wolf wanted to knock his lights out, but he was right. I was an Alpha wolf on the run from our 50-year-old cook, half my size and I didn’t care, not really. She scared me. Plus, I wasn't Alpha yet. We sped out of the drive leaving just the dust from my tires behind and a very pissed off she-wolf standing on the main house porch. The both of us breathing heavy, taking glances back at the house, we wouldn't put it past Mags shifting and hunting us down. - “Sooooooooo. Where we off?” Lip flicked through the radio stations as I speed to town. “Need to pay a deposit for the VIP section at the club for my birthday. Want the drinks package.” I tapped my finger to the beat coming from the radio. It was some sort of mariachi mix. I loved it. “Shouldn't your friends pay for that seeing as it's your birthday.” I shook my head. “My choice of venue. I want to pay. Plus, I wanted everyone getting s**t faced.” I smirked at my evil plan to cause at least 20 of my closest friends to have a raging hangover. “Cool. At least I may get to see the place.” Lip was still sulking at my dad. “What was up with dad?” “Ah. Picked up on that did you.” I side glanced Lip. “Yeah I'm not frigging blind, he looked worried.” I nodded my head. I couldn’t disagree, I was proud of Lip for being so observant; his senses picking up on mood changes could come in handy one day. “He said it was nothing.” Lip made a gawk sound. “Yeah. Right.” I pulled up opposite the nightclub. The outside looked trendy with white walls and a huge wooden door, only the left side of it open. Along the front sat a row of motorcycles. They looked really cool. They were nice to look at, although you'd never see me on one of those death traps. I went to walk into the nightclub section only to find the door locked. Noise of laughter and music made me spin round as the door opposite swung open. The nightclub must be closed, but the bar was rowdy for an afternoon. I stepped inside and the smell of wood mixed with whiskey, leather and sweat punched me right in the nose. I scanned the room. It looked completely different to the outside modern style, the room had wood furnishings and an old rustic feel to it. A large jukebox right by the door and pool tables at the rear. A mahogany bar running down the right with wooden stools and booths running down the left, flat screens scattered the walls. Pictures of motorcyclists and bikes hung throughout. The room went quiet, except for the jukebox. All eyes on me and Lip. Raising my eyebrow, making eye contact with some bikers dressed all on leather. The Rogue MC members we sat scattered in the bar. Some women dressed in skimpy clothes sat on some men's laps while others stood by tables or next to the bar. This was no man’s land and even though I wanted to let my Alpha aura out and spread like wild fire to stop the looks, I calmly walked to the middle of the bar. Lip stuck to me, slightly behind. Two barman watched me approach. They were almost identical. Both had long brown hair pulled back into a bun, tall and stocky. There was no mistaking they were dominant wolves, young Alphas. Their heterochromia eyes burned into us, one eye blood red and the other chocolate brown, it was rare for a wolf to have different eye colours, but both twins had it. They even creeped me out. The only real difference was one had a red scar on the right of his lip, running from the top down the lip ending at the bottom of his chin. It gave him even more of a menacing look. I heard Lip gulp. “I'm looking to put a deposit down for a table next door. Any chance I can do it here. And I'd like a beer.” I glared at both men, we needed to prolong our return to the pack house and let Mags cool down. “Sure. Hang on.” I sat on the nearest stool facing the bar. Bottles of different drinks sat in front of mirrors that lined the whole bar. The mirrors ideally positioned to give me the view of everyone behind me. They sat still. Eyes on me. Lip sat beside me, back resting on the bar, elbows either side of his firm chest, scanning the room. A protective stance, each one of us facing opposite directions when surrounded, protecting each other backs. It came natural to us. The barman with the scar left and entered a door at the end, the other barman collected a beer. “One for him, too.” Pointing at Lip. I paid. After five minutes of a bar stare off a large man entered following one of the twins. He looked similar to the two barmen. “Not every day we have two Alphas step into our bar. May I help you, gentleman?” They were a little uneasy so it looks like they went to get their strongest wolf. I could tell he was an Alpha. In the calmest voice my wolf would let me I introduced myself. “I'm Michael Lawrence. I’m just here to put down a deposit for a table next door.” “Wait you're Alpha Marcus boy.” I looked at him surprised. “Alpha Justin.” Lip whispered in my ear. “Oh. You're Alpha Justin.” I held out my hand for him to shake. “Ah. My boy. It’s finally nice to meet you face to face. Your father has told me all about you.” He cleared his throat and in an instant the whole bar went back to their chat or playing pool. “This is my brother, Phillip.” My brother turned and smiled. “Apologies, I didn’t think to warn you that I was coming. No mans’ land and all.” I didn't want to admit we were running from a she wolf half my size. “Ah, no need to apologise. Sorry about the welcome. Two Alphas and all. Rogues. Still a bit skittish shall we say.” He laughed. “These are my boys. Nicholas and Nathaniel.” Nathaniel being the one with the scar. We nodded to each other. “So want a table next door is it, boys.” “Yes. VIP next weekend.” I gave the details of what I wanted. “Don’t worry my boy, we will give you a discount and throw in some extras. I would give it all for free, but Ian will have my balls.” He laughed loud and some of the wolves behind me chuckled. “No worries. Thanks for the extras.” I took a sip of my beer then handed over the money. “Well enjoy yourselves, boys. I'll leave you two it.” Alpha Justin walked to the other side of the bar and sat in a booth with another three wolves. Guess he needed to keep his pack members calm; they were still sneaking glances at me and Lip. “NICO!!” I almost jumped out of my seat. Justin's growl disturbed the peace. Nico introduced to us as Nicholas dropped a crate of beers. “If you don't shut that s**t off, I swear I hold you down while Ian decks you.” I looked over at the very angry Alpha who was pointing to the screens. I looked up at the screen in front of me and almost spilled my beer, making me wonder how on earth I hadn’t seen it before. It looked like the twins decided to air porn in the bar. A tall very muscular man stood naked, his back to the camera, in front of a large desk. A pair of legs wrapped around his waist. Changing position, he continued to pump leaning forward over the person lying on the desk. Only then, did I see a third person, a woman with brown hair kneeling on the desk, who had been completely shielded by the massive shoulders of the man. The brunette moving her hips, playing with her n*****s. One would assume she was riding the face of the person lying on the desk, I assumed it was another girl. “Holy moley, knew I was going to like this place.” Lip sounded amused beside me. He probably looked like a kid in a candy store with a hundred-dollar bill. I couldn’t drag my eyes away from the screen to confirm. It was like something pulling me to the porno man. I watched every movement and something in my chest burned, making me shift uncomfortably. My wolf became restless. As the man stood tall, I fixated on his back muscles, his perfect ass. The way they flexed with each pump was hypnotic, the smoothness of the movements. A big tattoo donned his back. I focused on it. An angel. Her dress almost torn from her body, on her knees with her hands scratching the floor. Her wings, dirty and bloody, chained down behind her. It was hauntingly alluring. A dark masterpiece. Powerful yet so sad. The image overwhelming me. I wanted him to turn around. I needed to see his face. He called out to me. “Yeah. Yeah. Okay pops.” I only assumed from the shuffle of steps, Nico walked off. “That crate is also coming out of your wages.” Justin shouted after him. I just couldn’t drag my eyes away from the screen. As if they were glued in their position. Then the screen changed to some football game and I almost whined. The perfect manly specimen remained imprinting on my mind. Every time I blinked he stood there in his perfection. Lost in my thoughts, I didn’t notice that everyone in the room had gone quiet. The bar became still just like when me and Lip walked in. A deep manly voice filled the silence that sent a pleasurable chill down my spine. "I'm almost disappointed that the football is back on.”
