Chapter 23: Happy when I’m with you

Lucifer

After sorting the difficulty of communication out, I allowed the lady to have the spell she wanted from me. When we were done, Hecate came over and kissed me, I kissed her back for a while, and then she pulled back and whispered, “do you want to f.uck?”

I smiled at her and gently moved away. “Not right now, actually, I wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Ok, handsome, what is it?”

I looked up at the ceiling, preparing myself for actually showing some kind of gentle emotion and looking back at her, said, “I was wondering if you’d like to be more than just s****l lovers.”

I forced myself to say the next bit out loud, taking Belles advice and admitting my more romantic feelings. “I care about you a lot.”

Hecate genuinely looked stunned, and not much stunned her. After a few minutes, she grinned and said, “well we both know how wild I am, I’m not one for settling down, however, there is something about you Lucifer Morningstar that makes me want to try, so yes.”

I pulled her in against my body and kissed her lips softly. When we left my room we were holding hands and I led us back to Belle, she was safe here, no one would hurt her, but I still had the overwhelming urge to protect her, I didn’t like leaving her alone for too long. I found her in the hall eating lunch next to Dagon, he probably knew I wouldn’t want her left alone.

We joined them but stayed standing, food was nice to eat, but we didn’t actually need to eat. Hecate slipped her arms around my waist and leaned her head against my chest.

We usually stayed formal in front of everyone, but no one was surprised by the display of affection, they weren’t stupid and knew there had always been something more between me and her. I looked down at Belle who smiled happily for me, but I didn’t fail to notice the sadness in her eyes.

I had what I wanted, I finally had Hecate, so why did I still feel like something was missing, why was I still not satisfied? Dagon said he would show Belle the fun places around here, and Hecate dragged me back to my room as soon as they were gone.

Naked and sweating in bed, I looked at Hecate beneath me as I moved inside of her, she was beautiful, and it felt good f.ucking her, but something seemed off. I couldn’t figure out what it was, Hecate noticed and placing a hand on my cheek she asked, “what ails you my dear?”

I grinned, “nothing, you feel good.” She tried asking me again, but I didn’t want to think about it or figure it out. I shut her up with a kiss and gave her rough and hard to keep her distracted.

When we were done, she lay in my arms and fell asleep. I felt restless, so I got up and redressed and left her to rest. I found Dagon and Belle outside, she was picking more flowers and I worried we’d run out of vases for her with the growing collection. “Lucifer!” She grinned, “come look!” She ran over to me and grabbing my arm pulled me along until we reached the flowers.

“Look at these, aren’t they just adorable?”

She was looking at the small curabells, they were my realm’s version of an insect, they loved flowers and were all sorts of colours, the two Belle was staring at were green and yellow, they had small pastel pink antennas and white wings like a bird, they looked similar to a butterfly I suppose and when they flew they made a ringing sound like little bells.

Belle looked so happy watching them, and Dagon watched her like a happy parent. I had no such feelings towards her, but I did feel calm and content, it was the first time all day that I’d felt relaxed and like all was right in the world. F.uck. I didn’t fight it this time and allowed myself to think back to all the times I’d been with Belle and all the times I hadn’t, it was only when I was with her that I felt…happy.

I blamed her overly optimistic personality, no way did I have feelings for her, so why did I only ever feel complete when she was near? Nope, no, hell no, I was not thinking about this any longer.

I wasn’t sure what I would have done next, go back to Hecate? T.orture some vile soul? But Belle drew my attention back to her. “What are they?”

She asked.

I cleared my throat and tried to look composed. “Um, uh, they’re curabells.”

“What a cute name.”

She went to touch one when a Zardion pounced at her. She screamed from shock and then laughed when it licked her. It had been lying among the flowers, when still, they were invisible to the naked eye, they looked like small lions the size of a cat maybe a little bigger, with long tongues that made it easy for them to catch flying insects, this one had purple spots on his black fur, underneath the fur were scales like a dragon instead of skin, the tail was long like a lions the end a small flame instead of fur.

Belle stroked the zardion for a while until it lost interest and wandered off. When she looked up at me questioningly from where she was sprawled on the floor, I answered, “a Zardion.”

I held my hand out to her and helped her to her feet. The sun was close to setting soon, and it had been around ten hours, so I wasn’t surprised when Belle stumbled. I caught her by the waist and steadied her. “You ok?”

She looked up at me laughing and answered, “yes, silly me, I suppose it’s because it’s nearing

time to go back to my wheelchair, right?”

I nodded and she smiled at me.

“How do you do that?” I asked.

“Do what?”

“Stay so happy and upbeat, even knowing you’ll go back to needing the wheelchair.”

“Well, I suppose it is what it is there’s no point moping about it, and it’s not so bad as long as I have my books, I can travel anywhere and go on any adventure with my books. Plus, I am very blessed to have had you allow me even this short amount of time to walk freely.”

She quickly clasped a hand over her mouth when she realised she used the word blessed, and I laughed. “Don’t worry, darling, my head’s not going to start spinning.”

She blushed at my words while I cringed, I hadn’t meant to call her that, it just kind of slipped out.

“So, uh, shall we start making our way back to your wheelchair?” She nodded.
