Chapter 4
Mikhail stood frozen as Solomon and Jimmy did CPR. Solomon was always quick to act, and Mikhail thought back to the time when they worked at the Jewish deli when they were sixteen. A customer choked on food and stood, grabbing his throat. He opened his mouth, but no words came out. Solomon rushed to him and asked if the man could talk or cough. He shook his head. Solomon did the Heimlich maneuver and forced the food out. The man coughed and shook Solomon’s hand and gave him a two-hundred-dollar tip. Solomon gave half of it to Mikhail.
A tear came to Mikhail’s eye at the lost friendship and how stupid he was to go to bed with that i***t who seduced him. He expected Solomon to understand, but he didn’t. He rejected Mikhail, and their friendship evaporated. No, it exploded.
