"It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life." ~ Joseph Campbell Amond's POV I walked into Octavius's office without knocking only to see him with his head in his hands. At that moment I knew something was wrong, I sat in a chair in front of his desk. Octavius heaved a long, depressing sigh before he lifted his head to look at me with his bloodshot eyes. He had dark circles under his eyes, I sighed. "How long has it been since you've slept?"I asked him, he sat back in his chair and ran a hand down his face. "2 or 4 days, I don't know." He said while looking through a stack of papers. "You know that's not good for you, you need to rest," I said while slowly taking the papers from him, he waved his hand at me and snatched the papers back. "How would you know what's good for me? I can barely get my s**t together and then you come in here and try to tell me what to do." He said slowly while glaring daggers at me. I know Octavius may come off as cold and unfeeling but I know him better than anyone, he just has a lot of stress on him. "I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just making a suggestion. I know you're stressed right now, but I just want to help. You're stressing yourself out, you know I only want what's best for you." I said slowly, picking my words carefully. He sighed and got up and walked towards the door, he paused and turned to me. "Thank you, Amond. I want those papers on my desk by tomorrow, goodnight." He said cracking a small smile. I laughed and bid him goodnight, he hasn't been the same since what happened to his parents and his son. I picked the papers up and locked up his office on my way out, then headed home. I didn't tell him about Cole being back because he wouldn't have gone to bed. I promised myself that I'd tell him tomorrow.
