Ann’s pov
“So, what is the plan?” I asked Conan, who gestured that I sit down.
“We will negotiate new terms. I will ask him what else he wants.” he answered. We heard someone scoff, and I turned to find Emily with her bag in hand.
“I did warn you, he called, he is on his way. If I was you I would pack my bags and leave without any blood spilt.” she said, and I just ignored her. Maybe she knows him better than anyone, but I also know my mate as well. Conan has all the qualities of an Alpha Prince, he knows how to make people change their minds. He can negotiate and make anyone see reason, I have faith in my mate and his plan.
“What else can we offer him? It's not like we can offer him money or military power” Lukas said, and Conan nodded.
Actually, even though we have large numbers than they do their military power is greater than ours because they are stronger. I think that one trained Lycan can kill about one hundred werewolves in battle and that’s just the beginners. Well trained Lycans like Emily and James can kill about one thousand or more in battle, and I don’t even want to count the number that the Lycan King can kill alone.
“Relax, you said it yourself that Conan wouldn’t let anything like this happen.” Annie said, and I nodded.
She heard how hard my heart was beating which is why she told me to relax and honestly I couldn’t. I trusted my mate, but there was also another voice in the back of my head warning me. Emily seemed so sure about what she was saying, hell she is my enemy, but she went as far as to warn me.
Am I making the right decision?
“He is here” Annie whispered to me, and I saw how everyone tensed up. I turned around to look at Emily and she was just standing there looking bored.
A few minutes later, werewolf guards came running into the room and stood on the wall. They looked like they were ready for war, but that just made Emily smile when she was looking at them. She gave me the I warned you look, like she was giving me a second chance to change my mind.
I looked at my mate, and he seemed so sure and confident.
I know that no matter what I can’t marry that man, I can't spend the rest of my life with an evil man like him.
Annie held my hand tighter as if silently telling me that he was there, and I tried to make my heart beat normally.
I am scared of the man, everyone in this room is scared as well but my mate wasn’t at all. His expression was still the same and I could see his Beta and gamma hesitate for a minute.
Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are scared, I saw how Lukas was scared of Emily the other day. And the Lycan King is on another level, he came into the room, and his eyes were still covered with a satin cloth.
He came into the room and didn’t even look around but just came straight in and sat on the chair. His beta stood where Emily was standing at the entrance of the door.
“You sent an invite.” he said to Conan. My mate looked at me and nodded.
“Yes I did, I would like to talk to you. Man to man” Conan said, and he didn’t even react.
My mate took it as a sign and started talking. “First I would like to thank you for saving me with your blood. and I would like to re-negotiate the terms you set with my mate.” Conan said.
“As you know I told you that day, I am Conan’s mate and I really want to be with my mate.” I said trying to be as polite as I could. Conan gave me a reassuring smile when the Lycan King didn’t even reply but just sat there emotionless.
“So instead of marrying my mate, I have another deal to make with you. I will deal with the rouges who have been troubling you for years and put an end to it” Conan said.
“And we will deal with the anti-Lycan group, in return you can't marry our future Luna.” Lukas said. I could tell that he had mastered all the courage he had to even utter those words.
We all looked at the Lycan King waiting for a response, but he was just quiet. I don’t know why, but I felt this fear in me.
Something told me that his silence wasn’t a good thing, although he didn’t show any emotions, the aura around us changed.
I looked around me and I noticed that every werewolf went pale, some were even sweating.
I looked at Conan and his reassuring face was gone, and I could see the fear he was trying to hide.
My eyes landed on Emily, and she still had that look that she warned me and even shook her head in disapproval.
“Huh, interesting.” he finally said something and got up.
It happened so fast that I couldn’t even see a thing, it was as if I was in a car speeding by. Everything was just a blur. I couldn’t even make out the details of what was happening until it was over. I heard something roll and right there, right under my feet was a human head.
It stopped right in front of my boots, I looked up and my eyes landed on the Lycan King who was still standing. He was covered in blood, some on his face and his clothes and no matter how scared I was I couldn’t stop marvelling.
I thought that looking at him all I would see is this monster, but he was somehow devilishly handsome.
He started moving, and then I got out of the trance I was in.
He then went down on one knee in front of me.
He picked up the head of the guard and looked at me, I couldn’t see his eyes at all, but I could feel his gaze.
“Unlike you, I am a man of my word, I told you that heads will roll. You and I had an agreement, and now you want to go back on your word. Why is that Ann?” he asked me. I tried answering but I couldn’t find my voice, my hands were shaking, and my heart was beating so hard.
“I, I…” I tried to say something but nothing.
“Was that necessary? You just killed innocent people.” Conan’s voice snapped me out of the trance.
I looked at my mate and noticed that he was mortified but also furious.
“They were innocent people.” he said again standing up from his chair.
“If they were so innocent then why bring them to their death? Look around you Alpha Prince and his wolf less mate, this is all your fault!” Emily said showing us around.
I looked around, all the guards were dead, their heads were ripped off their bodies. It was as if they were killed with a sharp blade,
“You have an hour, pack up, or more heads will roll.” the Lycan said sitting down. He just sat there unbothered like he didn’t just kill innocent people without even breaking a sweat.
I looked at Conan and I knew that I was really way in over my head. Those people who are dead, it's my fault that they are dead, I should have kept my word. I was warned and that too two times, why didn’t I listen? Why did we even think that we could reason with a monster?
A hand squeezed mine and I saw how mortified my little sister and I understood.
I am in the same room as well, and she has a wolf, so she can sense his power on a different level than me.
The Lycan King’s eyes landed on my younger sister and our intertwined hands, and he actually smirked.
“Judging by the red hair I am guessing this is your younger sister, I guess she will do.” he said.
My hand automatically pushed my little’s chair behind mine and away from him.
I can't let Annie marry this monster,
“Well, we can change the terms of our agreement.” he said, still looking at Annie.
“What makes you think we will do after what you just did? You killed people.” Lukas said.
“Because that’s the only thing that will stop me from killing the remaining people.” he replied.
“Alec.” Emily said, she then came and stood next to her King.
“Enough, you don’t need to do this anymore.” she said, and her eyes landed on James, who smiled as well.
“Yes, just tell us who to kill next. You hate it when blood touches your face.” James said looking around the room.
“I will go with you. I will marry you so please don’t kill anyone anymore.” I blurted out.
“Are you sure? I don’t want you to resent me one day and say that I forced you to marry me.” the Lycan King said with a smirk.
This son of a b***h is actually smiling? He is pretending like he is giving me a choice. Does he know that he has me in a difficult situation? Or is he just acting stupid?
“I said I will marry you, so stop this.” I said, and he got up and then extended his hand.
“Then, my beautiful bride, shall we get going?” he asked me.
