"Wait." Vica stood motionless, turning her nose up as if trying to catch a scent on the air. She sniffed once, deeply, and furrowed her brow at whatever she had detected. "Something's wrong." Constantine had stopped as well and was looking back at her with a mildly perturbed expression. "I know," he said quietly. She eyed him with no little apprehension. This was the first time he had ever looked anything but smug or bored, and the change did not sit well with her. Try as she might to remember to dislike and distrust him, the fact remained that he always seemed to have a prompt solution to every problem that confronted him.
