They use an old abandoned open air stadium that just happens to be on mutual territory and three of the five packs provide security to make sure they aren't disturbed by humans, but this part of town is pretty deserted and relatively safe and away from prying eyes.
With all the women coming around from the various packs, there is a relatively good chance that Nathan might find his mate. Some even travel from outside the five packs. In some packs, women are oppressed. It is not that they don't want to fight, it is that they don't get taught, even if they want to learn, there is no one to teach them.
If the human isn't strong enough, the first shift can be excruciating, leaving a trauma making some girls unable to shift. Having a wolf but not being able to shift is a fate worse than death to Josie.
Hence why she is here, why she does what she does, why she pushed so hard.
Josie stands up the front on her odd sort of makeshift stage as she looks below her over the large crowd.
Her heart swells with pride each and every time she is here.
All the girls stare up at her excitedly and expectantly. She has been running this for about three years now. When she first started, it was about twenty girls and they were mostly from her own pack, but now approximately one thousand women and young girls come here from all the five packs. The numbers from Josie's pack, Ruby moon, have dwindled, they don't need to support it anymore and they are lucky enough to be trained in regular training, so they don't need the extra.
Some of the packs, well mostly two of the packs, of the five, refuse to teach their girls and women any sort of fighting or train them at all.
In the stands there is an old coaches box. The view from there is perfect. He can see everything, but none can see him.
He leans back in the old and tattered seat in a relaxed posture, he could not be anymore familiar with this position, his eyes are fixed intensely on the girl on the stage.
Watching every movement, every expression, with all his avoiding her at school, the secretive glances, the sly passing in the hallways, the sitting in her vacated seat. Friday's are the only day that he can just watch her unimpeded for two whole hours.
He has been coming here every Friday for three years.
On that day three years ago, the day that changed his whole life, that is when he first really saw her, while he had noticed her around school, he only noticed her beauty, even at her young age she has a once in a lifetime kind of beauty, a beauty that is hard to forget, a beauty that once you look it is hard to look away.
While Archer does appreciate beautiful things, skin-deep beauty is not enough to attract the man. Having a pretty shell means nothing when it is filled with nothing special or, in some girls' cases, a pretty shell, full of trash.
But on that first Friday, the very first training she held, Archer's father had sent him along to have a look, while Midnight pack trains their women. Archer's father, Alpha Arthur, is never against training or improvement. So he sent Archer there as a scout to assess a situation and see what this teenage girl was playing at, doing something like that.
While Alpha Arthur was up for sending or allowing his pack members to attend, he wasn't willing if it was some sort of scam, some sort of useless situation that they would get no benefit from.
And most importantly, even though he trusted the Ruby pack, trust can also be lost. Was the Ruby pack trying to recruit all the females to within their own pack in some sort of power play?
In a position of power one can never be too careful, being too trusting can lead to downfall.
So on that first Friday night, Archer begrudgingly went to Josie’s first training session that she ever held. His dad had to shove him out of the house, the whole way to the venue he was trying to think of excuses, trying to think of any reason to get out of doing it, the most pointlessly boring thing he could possibly think of doing, the biggest waste of his precious time.
After that first night, he never dared think that way again. After the first half an hour, it became his must attend; his whole week was scheduled around this one thing: nothing could ever fall on a Friday night or it was guaranteed the future Alpha Archer was nowhere to be found.
Archer saw something different in Josie that day. She wasn't just another pretty empty vessel, there was something more, something much, much more.
Of course, everyone has heard about her brothers, Nathan and Vaughan. It is said that they love and protect this sister like no other. Archer assumed that meant that Josie was unable to stand up on her own two feet, how very wrong he was.
As he sat there that night watching the small group that looked slightly like a joke in the massive arena, and watched Josie, it was easy to tell she would train the girls whether it was one or one million people the same, she was just as dedicated to the small group as she is still to this day.
That day, as he watched the fifteen-year-old girl only four months younger than himself pull off moves so similar if not slightly better than he could. That was the day that changed his whole life. Not only did he get a whole new appreciation for working hard. Not that he was lazy before, but from that day he wanted to be better, he wanted to be the best, in the hopes that he could measure up to her, in the hopes that one day he might be lucky enough to deserve her.
It was the first time that he felt admiration towards the girl, who, not long after, became his crush, then thankfully, became the person that he hoped to spend the rest of his life with, his own fated mate.
If he had not come on that day, if his father never made him go to these things, he never would have felt that deep respect for Josie as he has now. While she still would have been his fated mate, obviously he would not have gone to school that day just to check, just to hope.
He would have been in no rush to find his mate. He wouldn't have cared if it was her or anyone else.
So, every Friday night becomes his time with her, he gets to see her skills, see her beauty. She will never know the fact, but he knows, he respects her just a little bit more each time.
At school, while she does look ferocious to her many pursers, generally she has a lovely smile on her face, intelligent eyes and a sweet demeanour.
There is not a much better student than Josie.
It is only here that she showcases her skills. Archer has watched her enough times to know that she never shows the full extent of what she can do, because, of course, she is trying to teach these girls, not show off, what she is able to do with Alpha blood is a lot different to what a normal she wolf can do so she doesn't push the limits.
The classes are still predominantly made up of three of the five packs, but some girls from the other two packs come here often.
The ones that actually need it often don't get to attend, but some sneak out, some parents sneak their children out.
At the start, a certain few used to come just to laugh at Josie, but she didn’t care, never taking them seriously at all. Soon, the attendees sent them packing. They were seriously here and were desperate to learn and they respect Josie and what she does, so they are the first ones to stand up for her even when she herself doesn’t care.
Archer just sits and watches Josie. Nathan sits behind Josie, keeping a close eye on his surroundings.
Archer isn't the only male that comes to this place, with such a big gathering of females it is an easy way to find a mate. So there are often men walking out hand in hand with their newly found mate.
Some males obviously come with not as pure intentions of finding mates. Some come to try and find a hook up. In the last year, with Josie's body developing, there are a few that come just to watch her. Archer hates to be thrown in the same category as the creeps, but sometimes he starts to doubt himself, but it still doesn't stop him from coming here.
The creeps are kept at bay by either one or both of Josie's brothers, who radiate such a vicious aura, it would be a suicide mission to even talk to Josie, let alone try to touch her.
Archer appreciates it immensely. If he isn't allowed to touch her, he sure as hell doesn't want anyone else to touch her.
