"Get the hell off me Zeke, what is wrong with you?"
Josie is mortified, her first proper contact with Archer and this id*ot comes and ruins everything.
Josie’s eyes move from Zeke over to Archer. She is shocked to discover that Archer's golden eyes are long gone, replaced with pitch black darkness, eyes so deep that one could get sucked into an infinite abyss.
Archer's loving look at Josie is completely gone, his expression is ghastly, storm clouds roll over ready for an apocalyptic storm, the grim reaper coming to harvest all the souls.
His angry aura radiating ready to burn the whole school to the ground.
He wants blood, he wants to hand down his wrath.
Josie looks at Archer in shock. She is surprised that Zeke's words would have such an effect. Archer must really not like people telling him what to do. He always seems so calm. She has never seen his wolf so close to the surface. The power rolling off him is intimidating, even Josie is having trouble not bowing her head. Zeke, on the other hand, has tucked his tail between his legs and ran not before casting a look at Archer. Zeke's expression is as black as night before he disappears out the front door of the school.
Archer didn't particularly mean to be here, he didn't mean to be in this situation at all, he has done so well for so long, pressing it all down, keeping it suppressed, keeping his distance, watching her from afar, counting the minutes. It has been a very long four months for Archer.
On his birthday, that first day he got his wolf, the most amazing thing happened; he found out that Josie was his mate.
The most beautiful thing happened, but then it was quickly followed by his worst nightmare. For a man that has anything he wants, anything he wants he is willing to fight for, he came across the best thing, the most precious thing, but it is also the thing that he can't fight for. Out of anything he has wanted before, this is the thing that he wants the most, but fighting for this may just lead to losing it. Losing it is not something he is willing to do.
Of course, Josie is his mate, the most beautiful she wolf, the strongest she wolf, the most intelligent she wolf. Somehow he must have been good enough that the Moon goddess actually blessed this amazing girl to his side
That is the day everything was right but everything was so very, very wrong.
*Flashback to Archer's eighteenth birthday*
Archer runs a large hand over his scalp, slightly pulling at his short black hair as he sighs, stalking down the corridor.
"Happy birthday future alpha Archer"
An excited yet sultry girl smiles and actually tries to grab his crotch. He swiftly evades as he walks on.
"Thanks"
He says gruffly hardly casting the girl a look. He thought it was bad before, but since this morning, since he got his wolf, he has become a sl*t magnet, he has been dodging groping hands all day and it is starting to wear on his nerves.
What is wrong with them? A little extra power and they are throwing themselves at him without any dignity. When has he ever said yes? He said no in the past and not a single thing has changed now.
As soon as he got to school in the morning, he smelled it, he knew his mate was there, somewhere in this damn building is his mate.
The scent seemed to be everywhere, he had zero training of his wolf, his wolf woke only half an hour before the start of school.
He has time for a quick shift and then shift back and that is it. He didn't even run, he didn't do anything else, because the most important thing for him to do today was to find if his mate is in the school.
As his wolf is so very new and he is not in tune with it at all, he could smell the scent, but he couldn't follow it, it just seemed like all the corridors, all the class rooms, the entire damn building was filled with mate scent but he couldn't pinpoint it at all.
If he can't follow the smell, he decided that elimination is the best method. Who would he eliminate first? Of course, the most beautiful and talented girl in the school, in the state, maybe even in the country.
Because sometimes you just have to aim high.
She is the only reason he is here on his birthday, instead of out there, running and training his wolf, getting in touch, forming that bond that would make this task incredibly easy. He wants to know if it was possible that he was lucky enough to be blessed to have her.
If he is that lucky, he wants her by his side immediately, no waiting till her birthday, no waiting until she finds him deal. He is not so generous. Immediately tied to him is more what he is thinking.
Archer looks around the corridor and finally sees a human that is tolerable.
"Jacob, have you seen Josie?"
Jacob nods, nothing is different about that, Josie is preyed upon so much that people just think it is normal now.
"Mmm I just had gym with her, she should be near the change rooms"
Archer picks up his pace, a slight smile hooking on his lips as he notices the scent increasing as he heads toward the gym. The more the scent increases, the more his excitement grows. Is she? Is she really? He couldn’t possibly be so fortunate, could he?
The change rooms back out into the corridor. So if he just waits patiently, he could make a chance encounter happen.
The scent is getting stronger and stronger the closer he gets, his excitement grows rapidly.
That is when he sees her, everything else has faded to black, only a spotlight bathing a magical glow over the girl that never fails to take away his breath.
The girl that he admires, the girl that he has wanted and hoped and prayed for, would be his, the one that he hoped could stand by his side for a lifetime.
His wolf starts scratching towards her. Archer wants to jump for joy, all this is worth it. There is his mate.
There is Josie.
He exhales a breath that he didn't know he had been holding. Now the ultimate has happened, now he just needs to work out how to win her over. She isn't one that would just jump on alpha d*ck just because.
So how to approach her? He has dreamed of this moment for so long, but he never thought of actually thinking about the process.
If he got too crazy into the fantasy and she wasn't, that defeat would be too crushing.
Archer moves closer to her. That is when he sees her talking, he sees her lips move before he hears the words. He was so focused on her that he didn't know that she was talking to someone.
Archer focuses and looks at the whole situation, getting his mind back into the game. Josie is leaning against the locker in a somewhat relaxed posture with one foot rested against the locker. To anyone else, it would be a relaxed posture. To anyone that knows Josie, they know that it is poised for attack, the forever vigilant, the forever tightly coiled spring. The boys that used to pursue her in a relaxed manner have been getting their wolves one by one.
She is not sure what it is, there are sl*ts begging for it on every corner, so why do they have to come so aggressively at her? The one that could rip off their d*ck and shove it down their throat?
Is it some sort of macho thing? Oh look let's conquer the wild cat, ‘if I give her a bit of d*ck she will be obedient and follow me around like a puppy, licking my shoes and telling me how special I am?’
Josie scoffs as she looks at the man in front of her like he is the biggest joke in the world.
"You're my mate?"
"Yes Josie, that is what I have been telling you"
"Wow, the moon goddess really thought that I am a sl*t. You are my fifth mate so far"
Archer stands staring wide-eyed at the situation, his mouth open in surprise. The surprise quickly turns to anger, which quickly turns to unquenchable fury.
His untamed wolf is clawing at the surface, begging to get out, begging to rip this f*cker to shreds.
That is when he heard the words that dash all his hope, throwing a bucket of icy cold water over his head, making all of his dreams of a romantic love story die before they start, leaving him waiting four lonely cold months.
"You can all save it if you think I am falling for your bullsh*t. When I get my wolf she will tell me who my mate is. Do you think I will just drop my pants because you said that? Go away and reflect on yourself. You are a disgrace. What would your actual mate think if she heard such words? Have respect for me and your future mate. Next time you say those words to me, I will beat you into the ground"
Josie is not worried that this particular one is actually her mate, so she turns him down thoroughly. He is neither an alpha or a beta wolf. The lower wolf blood class cannot smell their mate before their mate comes of age. Alphas can, depending on how strong the bond is, betas can, but below that, no chance.
How much of an id*ot does he think she is? Does he seriously think that a single word in enough to let down all defenses?
"But Josie, it is true"
"If it is, then in four months I will give you all the bl*wjobs that you were just asking for as my penance, but for now, stay the f*ck away from me. No, I don't want to suck your d*ck. I hope when you really find your mate, that is not really your opening line, she deserves more than that"
Josie grimaces in distaste again as she throws her large gym bag over her shoulder, hitting the lockers with an almighty bang as she stalks away.
The noise making her unable to hear the man ten metres from her position that has punched the locker so hard the metal has warped into a pile of scrap, unable to see the man that looks like his heart is breaking and that his world is ending.
Doesn't take a backward glance at her actual mate who was so very close, who has resigned himself to four months of misery because of words she said to an id*ot.
Archer holds the piece of twisted metal, his hands getting shredded and healing as his muscles start twitching. He takes one last look at her leaving figure before running as fast as he can in the opposite direction, hoping that he can get to privacy before his wolf bursts forth. The painful shift is only half as painful as the pain of continuing to have to watch her without being able to approach.
He always told himself that only if the Moon goddess blessed him with her was he able to make a move.
Only then would he consider himself worthy of pursuing her.
He waited and it came to this anyway.
He waited but he still can't have her.
