 “Come on, Freyja,” Sofia urges me impatiently. She’s taking long strides that are hard for me to keep up with in her haste to hurry into Carla’s. It’s not so much that I can’t keep up with her stride—I’m 5’9 and wouldn’t be considered tiny by any means—but I’ve always preferred to walk slowly unless there’s a circumstance that requires me to move quickly.
