CHAPTER 16 Ruby stared at Connie. Then at Elliot. “We were at …” “I was working …” They both paused. Connie stopped her scurrying and stared at them both. Ruby took a deep breath. “Dr. Jameson was one of my mom’s doctors.” “I was just starting my residency,” Elliot explained. He looked down, and for a second Ruby got the nagging suspicion that he was just as uncomfortable as she was. “And now here you both are in Orchard Grove of all places.” Connie clasped her hands together. “Isn’t that something?” The landline phone on the wall rang. Connie glanced at it. “I’m sorry, children. That’s the gift shop calling.
