At five minutes to seven, I arrived. I barely knocked and the door swung open. Lisa squealed and pulled me inside by the arm. “I’m so happy you’re here,” she said, squashing me with a hug that almost ruined the brownies. “Hey, enough of that,” Lindsey said as he came into the living room. “I need to get some, too.” He took the brownies from me and leaned down to kiss my cheek. “Thanks for the treats. They will make for a very decadent evening.” The twinkle in his eye made me think of dirty, sticky things. “I hope you like them,” I murmured as I followed them into the kitchen.
