There was a stretch of silence and I looked up. Julius stared at me, a strange expression on his face. “Something wrong?” I asked. “Did you just…did you just say you’re gay?” “Huh? What are you talking about?” “You outed yourself to me. Just now.” I froze in mid-chew. Uh-oh. Had I gotten so comfortable in his company that I let that slip? s**t. “Look, Julius, I’m sorry. It must be the heat. Words just slip out sometimes when all my brain cells are in a puddle on the floor. Please, just forget about it.” I was rambling, and it would only get worse. Time to go.
