bullied by my fate

“What the hell is this? Your bodyguard has been missing for an hour and yet you don’t care about him and sit as if nothing happened. Is this how you treat your worker?” Zaiden raged at Emma.

Emma stood hanging her head low without saying a word. Even though Zaiden was known for his cold attitude, no one had seen him that enraged before. Everyone standing around stood silent without saying a word.

“Why are you not speaking out? Is it really fun to bully your worker? Now, why are you not saying anything? Are you going to be responsible if he gets injured?”

“The elevator had just stopped. What injury can there be?” Emma finally accumulated her guts and spoke out.

“You…” pointing his finger at her, he was about to yell but Kai approached them with the information he had been waiting for.

Kai informed, “He is still inside. The temperature is increasing. We need to fix it as soon as possible. Or else...”

“Then what are you waiting for? Where is the maintenance team?” Zaiden inquired, planting his hand on his hips.

“They are working. They said…” before Kai conclude he got interrupted by a ‘ding’ sound and the elevator door opened.

At the left corner, Leo was standing fanning himself with his t-shirt. Sweats were dribbling down his abs making him look sexy. 

“Thank god, it finally opened. I thought I was going to be popcorn today,” whining Leo stepped out of the elevator. 

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on his abs rather than his bleeding forehead. Zaiden saw how hungrily everyone was gaping at his naked upper body. So he took off his coat and stepped ahead.

“Here, wear it. Or else they all will devour you with their hungry look,” he suggested and turning around, blocked him.

Everyone was trying to peek at him but Zaiden roared, “aren’t you all done? Don’t you have work to do?”

Whimpering in annoyance everyone got back to their work. When Zaiden turned toward Leo he was standing wearing his coat. He was trying not to meet Emma’s eyes.

Zaiden lowered his head and glanced at his forehead. He then turned to Emma and glared. 

“Do you see now what injury there can be?” he questioned and glanced back at Leo. “Even though the cut is not serious, still clean it and apply some ointment.”

“I…” before Leo could say anything further, he walked away.

Emma and Beth too walked back to their office not sparing any single glance at him. Lowering his head, Leo followed them behind.

Soon after they stepped in, Emma raged at Leo, “Because of you, Zaiden, who had never shouted at me, scolded.”

“What?” Leo was dumbfounded.

“If you had listened to me and not used the elevator this wouldn’t have happened. But you… you are just determined to disobey me.” She gritted her teeth in anger.

“I didn’t want to disobey but Zaiden himself told me to use…”

“What did you say?” Emma gazed at him with her wide eyes.

“I…”

“How dare you to call him by his name?” She scowled.

“I… I am sorry. I will not repeat it again,” Leo pleaded, lowering his head.

“You better not… now go and get your wound treated,” she commanded, pacing towards her chair.

“Is there no first-aid here?” he queried.

But Emma came to halt hearing him. Cold silence hovered around the room as she stepped towards him with a cold gaze. He stepped back, gulping hard.

“Did… did I say anything wrong again?” he mused, yet was not able to get an answer.

“Do you think a bodyguard is eligible to use the same things as mine? Even Beth uses her own first-aid kit, so what makes you think that I am going to share mine with you?”

“Here, you can use mine,” Beth said, handing the box to him.

But before Leo could grasp it, Emma seized it away. 

“Let him go out and use the one which common employees here use,” she said, marching to her seat.

“But, Emma…” Beth was about to persuade her but Leo stopped, “it’s alright.”

When he left Beth raised a question, “why are you so hostile to him? I don’t think he is that bad.”

Dropping on the chair, she replied, “Because of him I got scolded by Zaiden in front of everyone and you are taking his side? If you are so concerned about him then you better follow him and work for him.”

“I am sorry. I didn’t mean to…”

“You better not!”

Beth inhaled deeply and got back to her work.

Zaiden was gazing at Emma’s office for a long time. When Leo stepped out, his gaze followed him wandering around, approaching the employee but none were paying attention to him. 

He got up and stepped closer to the glass pane. Seeing that his cut was still not cured, his eyes narrowed. Immediately he stepped out of his office and approached Leo.

“What are you doing here? I told you to clean your wound and apply some ointment. Why have you not done it?” he queried, tucking his hands in his pockets.

“Um!  I am looking for a first-aid kit,” Leo responded without meeting his eyes.

“Was there none at Emma’s office?” he inquired.

“Um! I…” Leo hesitated to reply.

Zaiden inhaled deeply before grasping his arms and dragging him towards his office. 

“Where... Where are you taking me?” Leo stuttered, but he got nothing as an answer.

Entering inside, Zaiden ordered, “Kai, get my first-aid box.”

“I am alright. I will get it from someone…” Leo tried to stop but his words were not heard by him.

Zaiden then shoved him on the couch commanding, “Sit..” 

“I…” he got up but Zaiden pressed his shoulder making him drop on the couch again.

With no other option left, Leo sat still letting Zaiden cure his wound. He was cleaning his wound when Leo cringed with the pain. Zaiden came to halt and glanced at him. Their eyes got locked.

“Mr. Kai, I got the files you asked for.” The sudden entry of Burno flinched both, making them move their gaze away from each other. 

“Hey, mate, are you alright? What happened?” Soon after handing the file to Kai, Burno approached them. 

“I am fine, just a small cut due to the abrupt halt of the elevator made me hit my head. But it is not that severe. I am telling you if I had stayed a while longer I would have pooped out like popcorn?” He chuckled.

“Stop talking nonsense and don’t move,” Zaiden warned coldly.

“Oops! Sorry.” He smiled playfully.

“Mr. Zaiden, let me do it…” Burno stepped forward.

“No, need it’s almost done,” shortly he replied.

Burno nodded and stepped back.

“Did you do it to get revenge on me?” All of a sudden Leo raised a question.

“Did what?” Zaiden questioned, sticking the Hansa-Plast on his cut.

“Deliberately told me to use the elevator, stopped it, and shouted at Miss Emma so that she would bully me? 

Suddenly Zaiden came to halt. He averted his gaze at him, questioning, “And what makes you think that?”

“I bullied you in the past so you are searching for a chance to avenge.”

“Ptf!” Suddenly Kai snickered. 

Both of them averted their gaze at him, including Buron, who was trying to figure out what was going on.

“Sorry about that. I suddenly recalled something funny. I was not laughing at your words,” hastily Kai made an excuse.

Zaiden said nothing and started to pack up the kit.

Leo continued, “I know whatever I have done was too much back then but do you still need to hold on to the grudges. I mean I am already being bullied by my fate as a punishment. I am here as inferior and you are my superior. Isn’t that enough to ease your heart?”

Zaiden still didn’t give any response nor glanced at him. He turned towards Burno instead.

“Do you have a passport?” he inquired.

Scratching the back of his head, Burno replied, “Um! It is in the process of being prepared. It might take one week. Can I know why?”

“Follow me,” Zaiden instructed and exited the office.

In confusion, Bruno followed him. Leo stood blankly not knowing what he was up to. 

“What is he up to, Mr. Kai?” he questioned turning towards Kai.

“I have been trying to figure that out since this morning. He is behaving strangely since the time he saw you. Have you really pissed him off that badly?” Kai questioned.

Leo inhaled deeply. “Let’s not talk about it.”

He averted his gaze towards Leo and seeing him inside Emma’s office, he panicked.

“s**t! He is there to create another trouble for me. I cannot let him make my life more difficult. Why did I even agree to take his treatment? Ugh!” whining to himself, he hurried toward her office.

“What type of man has he turned to? First, give wounds then treat and again attack. God, where am I stuck?” murmuring he knocked twice before pushing the door and entering.

As soon as he stepped in, Zaiden got up saying, “So, this is final. I am taking Leo and you are keeping Burno.”
