HHistory
Hey guys, I’m hearing noises behind me. reeeeeeeEEEEEEEE. The screeching returns to a static silence. They answer the radio as soon as they pick it up. Cory, are you there? There is a long pause of silence and a returning voice quieter than night over the radio. Coory. It sounded ruptured, interrupted, and distorted. I am here for you too. Elton looks at his Camera Guy. “I think we just lost him,'' Normally Elton is smiley, even when there is scary paranormal he is a ray of sunshine. “We gotta get out of here,” Elton gets up, picking up the radio and grabbing the emf reader and ghost box as he walks on. Eeellltonnnn. The voice on the radio was a little louder than the last few times. “Eeellltonnnn,” this time there was an audible voice getting closer from behind them. The camera was turned around still left recording what went on behind them as the Cameraman ran. A figure started forming behind them, it’s face had knife wounds in it. As its arms materialized it was seen that its arms were pale and wrinkled. Its whole body was dashing toward them, its feet bleeding leaving marks as it walked. “EEELLLTONNNN,” it screamed out in agony. Both of them picked up the pace and dashed out of the prison gates. They both looked back at the prison and there was nothing. Not a sound, nor their friend.
About a year later, October. “I am here announcing that the State Penitentiary is now open for the haunted house, so come on down with your family and friends to have some fun in the frights.” The news announcement ended with static as Elton listened to the TV.
“You know you can’t just stay inside all October,” Corbin the Camera Guy said, pouring coffee. It steamed up fogging his glasses. As he was wiping them off Elton responded.
“If you're saying we should go to that death trap, then kill me now,” he had his head turned peeking over the chair.
Corbin put his glasses back on and rested holding his upper body on the counter. “Look at it this way, it would be fun, and there won’t be just us. We’ll be safe, have a little fun with some things we used to do. But this time it’s fake so you don’t have to worry.”
Elton sighed, “Fine we’ll do it on the 31st, it should be the most crowded day.” Elton closed his eyes leaning back in the chair.
Corbin looked rather surprised, “Are you sure you want to do it that day?”
“Yes,” Elton responded without hesitating.
Corbin started to walk towards the hallway, “Alright, I’m gonna call it a day, goodnight.”
Elton opened his eyes, waving his hand toward Corbin, “Goodnight.”
One year earlier, the night of grief. Elton, Crobin, and Cory were all walking into the halls of the Penitentiary. Their guide was showing them the whole facility and telling some stories and history. They walked into the main entrance room, “This is the reception room, normally the receptionist would sit over behind the glass. It was replaced when we took ownership of the facility from bulletproof to regular glass. We actually do have a story…”
Corbin interrupted with a question, “That was bullet-proof?”
“Yes, they actually had a gang riot that came in to break out some prisoners. So they replaced it with bullet-proof glass to be prepared, in case it happened again. That was about three years before the place closed down and a year after that is when we gained ownership. Over there…” she said pointing to the glass window, “We have had reports of hearing a bell ringing and have had reports of an Apparition dressed in a blue hospital outfit standing and watching the front door.”
They all were surprised and looked at each other with expressions that read, “Cool.” They all walked past the glass door and through a doorway. The door led to a hallway that entered into a cafeteria. “Now this is the room where we have the least amount of activity but have the second most deaths. Now saying the least amount of activity in this place is pretty bland. There have been reports of screams, people getting scratched, chattering, they’ve seen blood getting written on the wall, shadow figures, and actually, it is said that one of the Apparitions actually killed one of our tour guests here.” She pointed over to the wall, “Actually we are getting something now.” We watched as the red liquid seeped from the wall. It spelled out our names, first Cory, then Elton, and Crobin.
Cory looked over at the guide in shock and fear, “What does that mean?”
The guide gestured to all of us, “I know when that happens it either means they’re gonna show you some stuff or it could also mean you’re gonna die tonight. More than likely you're just gonna get a lot of attention tonight.”
Cory looked a little more serious, but it was the face he makes as a sarcastic seriousness. “Wait, so people have died from these things, and it’s alright?”
“Yes,” the guide smiled and laughed with Cory because of his face and timid laugh.
They all went into the cells and basement, nothing happened during then, nothing was out of the ordinary until she told this final story. “The basement was called the ``Library,´´ when it was too cold to go outside the guards would put the inmates in here. No guards could enter there because it was basically a death sentence for them. This room had the most deaths and was basically a black market for the prisoners. There was one prisoner named John Apple. He was by far the most notorious prisoner. He made a reputation for ruining the lives of both the guards and other prisoners. He also for whatever reason started a library and the only person that wasn’t part of the prisoners that ever went there was the warden. For whatever reason John would allow for the Warden to enter his library but not any other guards. A prisoner even tried to attack the warden but was beaten to death before they could make a move.”
They all walked out to the Reception, bidding the tour guide farewell. They all decided to walk to the Receptionist's desk, set up their equipment, and belongings around the area. “So, we have a bunch of equipment set up, if anyone’s presence is with us you can use our equipment to communicate or let us know you’re here.”
As soon as Elton said this the ghost box sprung to life, I am here… for… you. The box was originally off. It turned on and continued after the voice to make static noises. Why… are you… here? Elton then responds, “We wanted to come and talk to you, is that okay?” Cory’s face is shocked and Corbin looks surprised. Not for… GET out. As Corbin and Cory are repeating what was just said and freaking out a bit. Elton says, “Well we’re gonna stay here a while and meet some of your friends.” O… K… I… tried… let me… do… my job… now. They all grabbed their equipment to head on to the next room. Corbin was holding the camera in the back, his hands were shaking. As he was recording a white orb zoomed by the camera and their group.
“Did you guys see that?” Corbin said, now his body was shaking a bit.
They all stopped and turned around, Elton was the first to break the silence, “See what?”
Corbin showed them the footage on the camera, “There was a ghost orb that zoomed right past us.”
“Well, they're active today. Let’s get set up in the Cafe.” Elton says this with such a calm facial expression that you wouldn’t even think the place was supposed to be haunted.
They put a music box device on the tray rack and started playing to set up the range. They all then went to the middle of the room and set up the ghost box, this time they turned it on themselves. As they each asked a question, when it came to Cory he asked, “Are we…” He was cut off and a voice cut through the static, You’re next… up. They all swung around as the music box went off, the music box was reading something in between the tray rack and the door to the prison hallway. Cory stood up and said sarcastically, “Stop,” but when he said that the music box actually stopped and he freaked out jumping a little and gripping his scalp.
Elton straight looked at their faces, “This is the best evidence we have ever gotten by far. There is no denying there is something real here.” As he said this the ghost box spoke, It’s almost… time… for you to… go… too. They all went silent, the subtle sound of static echoed in the large room. “Should we send Cory to the Library?” Elton asked.
Cory freaked out, “Why would you ask…?” he was interrupted when a voice answered over the box, Yes… he is first. Cory just stared at Elton in disappointment.
“Welp we got to do what they wish. Sorry.” Elton said whilst giggling a little.
They all walk to the library and wait there for a minute. Elton gives the radio to Cory and asks, Is this thing working, testing, testing?'' Cory answered, Yes, you guys really stink. Elton answered while starting to walk out of the room with Corbin. Have fun with John. Another voice was speaking while Elton said this to Cory, You really should get out. Elton and Corbin walked out of the room and headed to the cafe just outside the hallway to the exit. Hey guys, I’m hearing noises behind me. reeeeeeeEEEEEEEE. It was then silent, and their friend was gone.
