“He just called,” Kurt Kimball said. “He says he’s running about fifteen minutes late.” Kurt hung up his telephone and looked at Susan.
Susan sighed. It had been a long sleepless night. Early this morning, she had summoned Gholam Rahmani, the Director of the Iranian Interests Section, to a meeting with her. There were no diplomatic ties between Tehran and Washington. The Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations was not in the country. Rahmani was the closest thing she had to an opposite number—he ran his office out of the Pakistani Embassy.
