CHAPTER SIXTEEN At the award ceremony, Brynn stood on the podium with a second-place medal around her neck. She tingled from head to toe with happiness. The joy lessened the pain of her bruises. A silly grin had to be plastered on her face. She didn’t care. As a crowd gathered around, she searched for Ry. She wanted to thank him for his help. Just knowing he was here made this experience a thousand times better. “I can’t believe we came in first and second.” Lila glowed from atop the podium. She shimmied her shoulders as if ready to break out in a dance. Brynn didn’t blame her. She would join in if she wasn’t worried it would hurt too much.
