Chapter 10They mounted their horses, and Adam led them in the direction of the Big A. It wasn’t worth going up to the ranch proper, given Carter’s warning, but it didn’t hurt to get a feel for the land. Nothing seemed out of place, no extra men, and nothing to suggest an increase of activity of any kind. “Nothing here,” Adam said. “Let’s ride out to the Silver S. We can ride along the river.” They cantered at an easy pace. There were still a couple of weeks to find the missing statue. Adam didn’t want to appear as if they were agitated.
