“They’re doing what?” Sigmund asked as the carriage climbed up the hill toward the estate.
“The fight started because one of the wounded told me the army has been experimenting on the patients. The soldiers were afraid the doctors would overhear and shut them all up.” Carl checked again to make sure they weren’t followed.
Chastity tried again. “Did anyone hear me? That hospital was full of creatures, my instrument told me so. I think there must be over a hundred in that building. My needle spiked. I bet that’s what has been throwing off the readings since I came to your house.” She tried to show the instrument to the pair, going as far as to hold the box in front of Sigmund’s face while he tried to keep the carriage in the street.
