I practically jumped up from the couch and rushed to the door, but Kane put his arms out, blocking my way. “What are you doing?”
“I need to go check what’s happening.”
“I don’t—”
The door burst open, and the sound of the sirens increased tenfold. Kane had one of his swords halfway out before Leander and Lash stepped into my cabin.
“Are you okay?” Leander asked, his eyes searching me. Despite all the hatred he probably possessed toward me, he couldn’t help his duty as a warrior. He had to protect me first.
“Y-yes. What’s going on?” I tried to spy outside the door, but besides the trees around the cabin, I didn’t see anything suspicious.
Lash put his hand on the hilt of his sword. “We don’t know.”
