Chapter 11: Deirdre’s body had been wrapped in a white cloth, her face visible for all to see. Helena marveled at how peaceful she looked in death. Captain Cox had brought the Legend down to slightly above the water. The deep blue sea lapped against the keel. The sound made Helena remember the soft sound of her first ferry ride across the San Francisco Bay. That seemed like ages ago. Deirdre would have been happy. It was a proper Irish wake. Helena wore a black dress with a veil that covered her face. All the women wore black, the men wore their best suits, and the crew wore the uniforms Phoebe and Gertrude made for them.
