Chapter 10: Not as Innocent
The following day
Jax rescued me from the office and insisted I have lunch with him. I told the man I wasn’t hungry.
“I have work to do. There’s loads here on my desk. It’s not going to get done by itself.”
He moved up behind me, placed his palms on my shoulders, rubbed them with slow strokes, and leaned over me. “I’m your immediate supervisor. You must have lunch with me. Think of this as mandatory. You don’t want to be insubordinate, do you?”
Confession: I did want to be insubordinate with him, without our clothes on.
“Something tells me this is illegal,” I said to him, trying not to smile.
He laughed, spun me around in my chair, and helped me up. “It’s a beautiful winter afternoon outside, and I want to spend it with you, Victor. Why is that illegal?”
