CHAPTER THREEWhen they reached Calais, Lord Teverton was feeling distinctly annoyed. He realised now that he would have to share his special drawing room carriage, which was attached to the Rome train, with his cousin and her chaperone. He had crossed the English Channel in peace and quiet, sitting sedately in his own cabin reading The Times and The Morning Post. He had not really thought about the journey to Rome until they had disembarked from the ferry. He had carried out many Diplomatic missions and, as he was so rich, he always travelled in the same style and comfort as Queen Victoria.
