My ride back to Melchior was an unpleasant drive filled with sighs and groans because I couldn’t stop my mind from replaying everything that has led to this point.
It didn’t occur to me how sudden and unexpected my current situation was until I dropped Lorelei at the beach. Seeing her swim away in the night light made me wonder if my decision was a wise one.
From there on every other doubt and what if’s? locked up in my subconscious sprang up and I could not dispel them. Neither could I provide answers for it.
I realised how overwhelming everything seems and how uncanny it was, how many of my kind would believe that I impregnated a mermaid.
