Chapter 4 As Doc had instructed, Hank remained on the Emmy while Doc, Ed, and I dressed in appropriate gear and traipsed over the Martian terrain. Our last walk through some of the “canals” of Mars was during a “heat wave.” It was negative thirty degrees Fahrenheit. The gloves we wore were supposed to be good for up to negative one hundred degrees, but my fingertips felt like they were going to fall off. I was grateful when we climbed into the Emmy, and I got out of my pressure suit.
