We’d be arriving late in Patchwork Junction, but better later than never. There had been no problem at the bridge. I"d foreseen it would be safe. Plus, I had had Dante check for me. I spent the rest of my time packing and thinking about what I needed at Virdin"s store. He was happy to see me, as he"d been worried about me when I didn"t join him for breakfast (he"d forgotten I"d gotten an invite from Jett). I had lunch in my own berth, eating a sandwich—a slice of ham between two buttered pieces of their wonderful baked bread—while I moved around getting packed. As we pulled into the station, I looked out the window—a broken one. The town was nestled in the heart of green trees and grassy knolls. A busy village, it had a quaintness about it that most of the villages on this planet did. Mo
