Chapter 3His eyes protected by the wide brim of his hat, Jesse looked around slowly. This street had a couple of bars, one at either end. The nearest one looked the kind to avoid unless you wanted to be carried out in a box. Squinting, he saw enough of the other saloon to think it might be of better quality, enough not to water the drinks too much, anyway. Between the two saloons were a barber shop, assay office, dried goods shop, and solicitor on one side, with a bakery, clothing and material shop, drug store, and doctor on the other. There were even solid, planked sidewalks to walk on along both sides of the street. For such a little town, it sure looked wealthy.
