16 | I'm Fine

993 Words
Asher's POV "Hello, can I help you?" An officer asks as we walk into the police station. I feel Sierra squeeze my hand and step closer to my side. I snake my arm around her waist and smile at her softly. "Relax," I whisper and she exhales deeply. "I'm Sierra Rose," she mumbles and the officer nods. "Okay ma'am. Please come with us. We have some questions. As for the two of you, I'll send separate officers to ask you some questions as well," the woman tells us. "Alright," I mumble, letting go of Sierra's hand. "It'll be okay," I tell her and she smiles. "Thank you," she replies then stands on tipi toes to kiss my cheek. I watch as she follows the officer before I sit down and wait to be approached. "You good?" Ross questions and I nod. "Yeah, she's just so f*****g innocent man. She's so pure. I hate that she's been roped into our world, but I can't let her go," I tell him and he nods in understanding. "I'm just glad I was there when she arrived. My cover is still intact so I'll probably head back to Austin's place after this and find out what's going on so I can report back to Pierce," he mumbles and I groan. "I want to go back in time and make him—" An officer approaches and I stop talking. "Sir? What's your name?" He asks and I smile. "I'm Asher Fields. I stopped Austin Morelli from beating his girlfriend in the alley. I am the one who shot him in the leg in self defense. I have my license to carry in my wallet." He nods and takes out a notepad. "Why did you run son?" He asks and I swallow hard. "As I was scooping her up into my arms, a group of men came running down the alley screaming 'You're going to pay Morelli' so I just ran with the girl. I didn't want her in further danger." "Alright. Stay here," he tells me and I nod, looking at Ross. "You sir, come with me," he tells Ross and I furrow my brows. "I already called in," he tells me with a wink and I shake my head. That d**k could have mentioned that earlier. I lean back in the chair and sigh. It's already been fifteen minutes and Sierra hasn't came back out. "Sir, we just need you to write up your statement and stay in town. Don't go leaving while we investigate further. You're not a person of interest. We just might need you for further questioning at some point. Alright son?" The officer asks and I nod my head. "Alright. Can I leave right now?" I question, desperately needing a cigarette, maybe even a joint. "Yes sir. Your lady friend and buddy will be out shortly. I'll inform them you stepped out," he says and I thank him, standing up. I walk outside the station and sit on the nearest bench, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. As soon as I take a drag, my nerves are gone and my body relaxes. I am not really a smoker, but every once in a while I need one, like today. Not knowing what Sierra is being asked leaves me a mess. She shouldn't be going through this. Every time the door opens, my head snaps up, waiting for my girl to walk out. Ping! Ross - Be out soon. You good? Me - Yeah, outside smoking. Ross - Alright. I think they released Sierra I look up and see Sierra walking out, looking around frantically for me. She relaxes and smiles when she sees I'm still here. I stand up and walk over to her, pulling her against my chest, holding her in place. "Are you okay?" I ask her and she nods. "Yes Asher, I'm fine. They just want me to stay in town. I'm assuming they told you the same?" She asks and I nod. "Yeah. Want to come sit with me?" I ask and she shrugs. "Sure. Why not," she mumbles, linking her fingers with mine. I stop walking and cup her face, placing my lips against hers. I kiss her softly, loving how she melts into my touch. She wraps her arms around my waist as she deepens the kiss. "Uh, you two ready?" Ross interrupts and I growl, pulling away from Sierra. "You're a f*****g c**k block. You know that?" I ask him and he chuckles, scratching the back of his neck. "No, you two are just some horny mother fuckers," he says with an awkward laugh. "Guys stop. Can we just go? That guy has been staring since I walked out," she whispers and I whip my head around. "Don't look you i***t!" She snaps and I turn back to her. "And why the f**k not? I'm not scared of anyone," I whisper lowly and she shivers at my cold tone. "Well you should be. You're not invincible Asher. You're a human being. You bleed. You can f*****g die so quit acting like you can't. Okay?" she questions and Ross raises an eyebrow, smirking. "Damn. She just scolded you like your GiGi does," he says chuckling and I roll my eyes. "Whatever Ross and fine Sierra. I'll stop, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm not scared. I'm scared of no one and nothing," I mumble and she licks her lips. "Oh really. So you wouldn't be scared of losing me?" She challenges, pursing her lips. Before I can even respond, she smacks her lips. "Nice to know you wouldn't be scared jackass," she mumbles while walking away. "Sierra, wait!" Ross and I both yell, but she ignores us and keeps on walking. We run after her, but before we can get to her, someone hits her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground. "f**k," I hear her mumble before she falls unconscious.
