“You have decided to fight haven’t you.” I don’t know what made me say it but the words. They just slipped from my mouth before I could stop them.
Bat raised his eyes from across the table but he didn’t meet mine. Instead, he shovelled another mouthful of pork chops and mashed potato into his mouth.
“Bat?” Tears threatened to overwhelm me. I could feel them stinging my eyes already. I had expected it but now it was coming to it I didn’t know how I would cope without him. How we would cope without him. My hand smoothed over my stomach. There was no me now there was only us.
“You’re going to be showing soon aren’t you?” His words took me by surprise. I blinked at him stupidly.
