While the special treat that she had made for herself was delicious, Ella pushed it away. The fact that there was no one else to share her special day and celebrate with, made it lose it's appeal. She got up and dumped what was left on her plate into the trash and washed her dishes. She walked out of the kitchen, and into the living room to head upstairs to take a shower and go to bed.
As she began to start up the first few stairs, there is a knock on the door. Ella stopped and looked at the door. She was not expecting anyone, and if it was her parents, they would have just walked in. While she took a moment to look at the door, there was another knock, more insistent this time.
