Chapter 1- Mate
It was a fine afternoon but Kira’s mood said otherwise. She was so bored while listening to her classmates' non-stop bickering. Their teacher had a sudden meeting with the faculty of Arts but left them some sheets of paper to answer.
As soon as she heard the school bell, she immediately grabbed her things and rushed towards the table, leaving her answer sheets.
Thinking she still has jobs to do, she dashed towards the door, squeezing herself against her classmates to get out fast.
But little did she know, Blake was already waiting for her outside. The moment she saw him, she abruptly changed her direction.
“Hey, Skye! Wait up!”
Pretending she heard nothing as she continued her track towards the main exit.
“Come on, Skye. Talk to me.” Blake was fast to get to her side.
"I really don’t have time for your jokes, Blake. Not now, okay?” Giving him a death glare.
"Hehe! That's not the reason why I'm here."
But she just walked passed him.
"Skye-"
Still no response from Kira.
“Alright, if you don't wanna talk to me, I will just go to your house and tell your par—.”
"Fine! You win! Now, what do you want, Blake?”
She's in a hurry because of her part-time jobs.
She has to pick up Elijah, her neighbor’s kid, at his school and go to her neighborhood to clean the basement.
“I just want to apologize. I was so mean yesterday and went overboard. I’m sorry, Skye. I shouldn’t have done that.”
“Apology accepted. Now, please get out of my way."
“But we’re good, right?” He did puppy eyes as he smiled, apologetically.
“Yes, we are. But if you keep following me, means you’re up to something again”.
“I just want to offer you a ride, Skye. Consider it as my way of peace offering.”
“No. But thanks. I’ll just see you tomorrow.” Kira turned away as she waved the back of her hand, dismissively.
“Okay. But, are you going somewhere else?”
“Look.” She faced him again, looking frustrated. “I have two part-time jobs, Blake, and I really don’t have the time for you right now.”
“Oh, okay! See you tomorrow then?”
“Yes.” Kira was almost running just to get away from him. She knows him and she can't do her jobs if she lets him talk more.
Blake is the only person who cares for Kira, that's just as much as he annoys her, too. Although her classmates and teachers call her Kira, Blake prefers calling her Skye, her second name, because for him she's his serenity.
Meanwhile, Kira ran as fast as she could across their building to get to the elementary building. She's going to pick up Elijah, a grade one student. Because of the mother’s job, Kira has to relieve Elijah’s mom at school. Although the pay isn't that big enough, she still grabs the job as she needs the money for her college fund.
She headed towards Elijah’s room at her fast pace. But it still took her almost five minutes to get there.
“Hi, Elijah!” She arrived just in time.
The boy looked up, all smiles as he's expecting his mom to show up. But his smile disappeared as soon as he sighted Kira.
“Hi, Kira. Is mommy going to be late again?”
Kira kneeled in front of him. “Yes. I’m sorry, Elijah. But you know what? She said she’d be home before dinner.”
"Really?"
"Uh-huh!" She patted the boy’s head as she gave him a sweet smile.
She then took his bag and stood up. They bid goodbye to his teacher before going out.
Upon arriving, Kira made sure that Elijah’s grandfather was at home before leaving him for her next job.
Kira decided to just walk to her next part-time job. She's all sweat when she reached the house.
A few moments later, someone from inside peeped outside the door.
“Hi, Mr. Donaldson. It’s Kira. I’m here to clean the basement.”
“Hola, Kira! Yeah. My wife already told me about it.”
He pulled the door’s chain lock and turned the knob and pulled the door wide open letting her to come inside.
“Feel free to go downstairs. You can find the cleaning tools inside the cabinet at the back,” He said as he closed the door and pointed towards the basement door.
“Aye, Aye, Sir!”
The old man smiled before he went back to the living room. That's Kira's queue to not waste time. Immediately, she gathered all the needed cleaning tools and then proceeded downstairs.
“Alright. I’ll start here first."
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
“Alpha, two members of our pack were injured. They were attacked near the boundary of the eastern territory.” Kent was mindlinking Caspian.
“What? How? Are they okay? Were they attended by Loracia?” Loracia is the doctor of the pack.
“Yes, Alpha. They’re currently taking rest.”
“Good! Make sure to investigate this matter. Do you have anyone in mind?”
“None, Alpha. So far, we don’t have any leads on this matter. But we have deployed two groups to continue searching within the eastern territory.”
“You need to warn the others about another possible attack. I’ll raise this issue to the council before taking actions. For now, send two sentinels, two lead warriors and several Lead Scouts to the eastern territory and across the borders.” Ordered Caspian.
“Copy, Alpha.”
Caspian had ended the mindlink but did an emergency meeting with the Gammas along with the neighboring alphas.
No one dares to hurt my pack! Caspian was howling with threats and anger. It in fact terrified those who had heard him. No one had ever tried to go against the Great Alpha.
Caspian is the Alpha of the Red Valley Moon pack. He is also one of the Alphas in Northern America. He is dangerous and a monster behind his innocent and celestial look.
He’s a well-known Alpha all throughout the territories because of his just and fair treatment of his pack. Besides, he is also a great ally of other alphas and because of these reasons, no one dares to go against him. He’s known as a monster to his enemies.
However, there’s one thing he doesn’t have. His Luna!
He attended several mating balls and met with several other werewolf packs, yet he still hadn’t found her. He knew that there’s something missing. Even his wolf, Fenrir, was longing for his mate.
As soon as his mindlink connected to all members of his pack, he quickly made an announcement.
“Listen all of you, my Red Valley Moon pack. Whoever you think looks suspicious, report to us. You have your phones, you can mindlink to some, so use them! But security will be tight for now!”
Later that night, all members of the Gamma Council and the invited neighboring Alphas had arrived and gathered at the meeting hall.
“Thank you for coming. Some of you may have been wondering on what’s going on. I am not going to beat around the bush. Two members of my pack were injured because of an unexpected attack. The attackers have yet to identify.”
Everyone inside the meeting hall was shocked. Loud murmurs arouse soon after.
“Silence!” He shouted as he banged his hand on the table in front of him. “You know I hate traitors! Did anyone forget the peace treaty we all had signed up for, years ago?”
One alpha stood up. “I, Markus, Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, have full knowledge about the peace treaty we'd signed up. But, I assure you that my pack has done no harm to your pack, Caspian.”
“I second to that, with my pack, Caspian. So, whoever did that impudent should suffer.” The alpha of the Moonlight Pack said.
The other alphas shared their opinions as well.
Until the rest had been heard. Their conclusion was this could also be an inside job. Someone from the pack might try to create a misunderstanding among the packs.
Since everyone was being suspected, they all came to an agreement to investigate their own pack and report back to Caspian since it was his pack that got injured.
After the two-hour debate, majority of the Alphas along with the Gammas came up to another concord. Caspian had also agreed to it. By agreeing, they sealed it with a signature, and adjourned the meeting until the next announced schedule.
After their closed door meeting, The Gammas and Alphas left, except Caspian. He was still sitting on his throne analyzing the plan for his pack. Suddenly, a voice appeared.
"The answer is in the hands of the celestial being."
Caspian quickly felt alarm. "Show your face!"
“Find her and you all shall be safe. Seek her not and you all shall be in chaos."
“Who are you?” Caspian was stil looking around the room in search for the owner of that voice. “What do you mean? Show yourself!” He demanded.
In a split of a second, a very fine woman, dressed in a white silk robe, appeared before him. Her beauty took aback Caspian, and he felt all his hair even the tiny hair at the back of his head rose after sensing her immense powers. Goosebump was just the least word to describe what he felt about the immense powers she has possessed.
“Moon Goddess…” He automatically shifted to his wolf form and bowed his head to show his respect.
“Dangers are ahead of you, Caspian. You need to keep the celestial being safe before it’s too late.”
“But how?” He asked.
The Moon Goddess raised her hand on a slight wave. Suddenly, a vision of a woman, a vampire and a school appeared between them.
“Everything should be in its place before the lord of darkness came. You need to find them and protect at all costs, Caspian. Find them and you will be safe.”
“Where can I find them?”
“Listen to your heart, Caspian. You and her are connected. You of all were kinds have the great power to find what you are looking for.”
“What will happen if I fail?”
“Bloodshed. Deaths of many. Your kinds will be perished. There will be no peace.”
“Why me?”
“It’s your destiny. You are the only one who possesses the power to protect them.” The Moon Goddess smiled at him. “Open your eyes, Caspian. Seek and ye shall find."
"Moon Goddess, tell me how? I don't think I have the-"
“Don’t doubt your Moon Goddess, Caspian."
Caspian bowed his head. “My apology, Moon Goddess.”
“Open your eyes, Caspian, and see what is within. Believe what seems to be untrue. The answer has already given unto you."
Then a blinding light was soon exploded inside the room after the Moon Goddes spoke. Just like that the Moon Goddess had disappeared into thin air. But, Caspian was left in his wolf form, dumbfounded.
