Frank P.O.V
“Our pack has been attacked! Our Alpha and Luna are gone! The hunters have won! Alpha George did everything he could to protect us! Our Alpha and Luna gave their lives for us! What say, you, Stephan! Son of George and Andrea! What say you now?!” Frank ranted out through the mind-link, grabbing Dora’s arm he stared deep into her eyes. “You are either with me or against me, what shall it be?” he could clearly see her fear and he wrinkled his nose in disgust.
“With you,” she whispered.
“Pack our things and put them in the car, this ends now,” he said before rushing out of their home. He had a score to settle regardless. Frank couldn’t believe his only true friends where dead. George and Andrea, dead. It pained his very soul that he hadn’t been able to protect them. Worse, he had seen the hunter’s leader and been shocked to his very core. Frank was ultimately to blame for the invasion. He was to blame for their death. He couldn’t stay and pretend otherwise. Now Frank was standing in front of the house of his dead Alpha and waited for Stephan to make a move. He could feel the other pack members coming out of their homes, out of their sadness to witness whatever was going to happen next. Dora and Freya soon joined them, and it didn’t take long for Stephan to rush out with his stupid mate. “Answer! What have you done to help us? What have you done to protect us?” Frank shouted out.
“Frank! What on earth are you doing?” Cliff demanded as he rushed to his side. “This is madness, you need to calm down!”
“No! He must answer to us!” Frank retaliated.
“Do you think it is only you that feels that loss?” Stephan shouted out. “Do you truly think I wanted this to happen?” Frank knew that he was playing a dangerous game, yet he couldn’t back out. He had to stand strong. For himself. For Dora and his pup Freya.
“Yes!” Frank yelled out as he watched Stephan freeze on the spot.
“How can you think that?” Stephan eventually asked him.
“You are not one of us! You were not raised here!” Frank cried out in frustration. It wasn’t right. None of it was. Now that Stephan would become Alpha, there was no way he could stay and be a part of the pack. Frank could hear the whispers of the pack members behind him and he didn’t care. No one would ever know the truth; he would make sure of it. Frank owed it to George and Andrea. That was a total lie, but he couldn’t handle the truth behind it all. He was to blame. This was all his fault. No matter what lie he ever told himself, he was the reason that George and Andrea had been killed. He could see Stephan’s mind working and he already knew what was coming. However, he wouldn’t give Stephan that opportunity. After all, he had his pride to uphold. He could feel Dora shaking next to him, but he couldn’t be bothered to calm her down. “I will take my mate and pup and leave this pack! I will not allow my family to be in any more danger!” Frank turned around to face the pack members. He could see their disappointment at his actions, yet, he could also see their curiosity. There was no way he could stay here; they would soon figure it out if he did. Especially if the hunter’s Leader returned. “If you wish to stay here then so be it! But I am leaving! It is his fault!” Frank looked around at them, hoping that a few would join him, after all, if a few followed him then he may be able to convince himself he had done something right. But as he looked at them, he could see that none of them would leave the pack. None of them would turn away from their loyalty and commitment. “Fools!” Frank cried out in mock surprise. He had expected at least a few to join him. Frank grabbed Dora’s arm and pulled her with him as she held onto their daughter. Once they were at the car, Dora spoke up.
“Frank?”
“What?”
“Must we leave?” she asked him as he checked to see if all their personal belongings were in the car. He was thankful that she had at least packed as much of their stuff into the car. He knew she didn’t want to leave, despite the death of their Alpha and Luna.
“Yes Dora, we must,” taking Freya from her arms, he tucked her into the empty spot in the back seat before helping Dora into the passenger seat. “Yes, we need to look elsewhere for a home,” he told her before closing her door and going over to the driver's side. He drove quickly to the exit and stopped. Turning to look at the female at his side, he couldn’t help but give her a sad smile, she had stood by his side for so long and he had done wrong by her.
“What is it?” she asked him carefully.
“I’m sorry Dora, I haven’t said this to you in a while, but I do love you and I love Freya,” he admitted.
“OF course, we love you too,” she answered him automatically and he vowed that once this nightmare was over, he would dedicate his time to his mate. He had a lot to make up for and as soon as they had found a home, he would make damn sure to give his all to his mate.
“I, Frank Leigh, am leaving The Night Drifters Pack,” Frank spoke clearly and watched Dora carefully, wondering if she would, in fact, stand by him or not.
“I, Dora Leigh, am leaving The Night Drifters Pack,” Dora followed his lead softly and he knew it wasn’t easy for her, yet, he felt relieved that she was with him.
“With our daughter, Freya Leigh, we leave this pack,” Frank added as he looked over at Freya, who slept soundlessly in her car seat.
“We leave this pack,” Dora repeated, and Frank felt the rip and although it hurt, he quickly drove off. One destination in mind. Tomorrow he would act, and he would start with Kamila.
“Must you leave?” Dora asked Frank. She stood bouncing Freya on her hip as she watched him.
“Yes, I must leave, there are some things I need to take care of before we can move on,” He felt guilty for having to lie to her. He wanted to get as far away from this area as possible. Frank wasn’t a fool; he didn’t want to give them any chance of becoming rogues. The sooner they could get to another pack that was willing to accept them, the better. However, he had business to take care of and he would start with Kamila. Frank leaned down and kissed her softly on her forehead before rushing out of the motel room they had been staying in for the last two days. He didn’t feel right, a warning or something was eating at him, but he pushed forward regardless. Frank arrived at his lover's house in no time and banged on the door.
“Frank?” Kamila answered the door with a confused look on her face. “What are doing here?” she queried, and he shrugged, pushing his way past her and forced himself into her home. “Derick will be home soon, you shouldn’t be here,” he could tell she was panicking, and he smirked.
“Good, I want him to come home really quick,” he knew he was being a bastard and he was very much aware that he was taking a chance, but he didn’t care. “Say, Kam, did you know that your husband is a murderer?”
“What?” she looked shocked and he stopped. Maybe she wasn’t apart of this nightmare.
“Your pathetic excuse of a husband is a killer. He is the leader of the hunters who killed my Alpha and Luna,”
“You are lying!” she screamed out. She had no idea what kind of a monster Derick was and Frank thought that maybe he should spare her life. Frank blamed himself for this mess. It was him that got involved with Kamila.
“Tell me something Kam, did you tell him about us? About me?” she hesitated and by doing so, she had already answered his question. It seemed that she wasn’t as innocent as he had thought. Or as he had hoped. It would hurt but it wasn’t as painful as losing his Alpha and Luna, as well as home.
“Um, Frank, I think you should go,”
“No! I am not leaving. Why did you tell him?” Frank asked her. He had to know. He wouldn’t leave her pathetic excuse of a home until he knew the truth.
“He caught me out!” she finally cried out with tears streaming down her face. “I had no idea he would do anything,”
“Bullshit! He came to my pack! He killed my Alpha and Luna, he killed families! How could you betray me in that way!” the anger was bubbling deep inside him. A mixture of anger and guilt swirling around. If he hadn’t gotten involved with her, none of this would’ve happened. It was ultimately his fault. Kamila cowered in the corner of the living room, obviously scared. Frank could smell it, but he didn’t care. As much as it was his fault, he had to take revenge. He had too. For George and Andrea. For Dora and Freya. Frank shifted, watching as Kamila screamed out in fear. He didn’t care. He wanted her dead and he would kill her no matter what. Briefly closing his eyes, he thought of his friends and family before he charged at her. She didn’t run, she just opened her mouth and screamed. Frank sunk his teeth into her neck and snap. Killed her. He took a step back and watched the life drained out of the girl he had used to fulfill his own desires for so long. Her death felt like a small victory but yet, he knew it was wrong. She didn’t deserve to die. Frank sat back and waited, Derick would come home to a dead wife and Frank would take his life. Hopefully, that will put an end to the nightmare.
“I will spare your daughter's life,” Derick’s voice woke Frank up from his restless sleep, so much time had passed that he hadn’t even realized he had laid down. Looking up, he saw Derick standing over Kamila’s body. He could smell Dora and turned to see her standing in the doorway, looking terrified and disgusted. He wasn’t sure how Derick had found her, but he was slightly relieved to see and hear that his daughter's life had been spared. Although he didn’t want to think about what that would mean for his mate. “Did you hear me, wolf?” Derick turned to him and Frank thought about his options. If he made a move towards Derick, he could lose Dora and if he made a move towards Dora, he could die. Suddenly a man appeared behind Dora and placed a gun against her head.
“I’m sorry,” Frank said to her through their mind-link. “This is all my fault,” Frank closed his eyes, it wouldn’t matter what he did. Derick was going to kill Dora because his Kamila was dead. “I love you,” the shot rang out and Frank felt the pain tear into his heart, into his very soul. He staggered forward, in a blinding rage of hate and he charged towards Derick. Determined to do something right. However, another shot rang out and Frank shifted to human form as the bullet hit his left leg.
“You fool! Did you really think you could win?” Derick shouted out at him. Frank looked over at Dora. His heart was torn, and it was all his fault. He looked away from her lifeless body and felt the tears wet his cheeks. He had never met his fated mate but he had loved Dora and mated with her. Now she was gone. He deserved to die and as he looked up Derick, he knew that the man would not spare his life.
“Freya?” he asked weakly. He didn’t want her to suffer but a part of him wished he could see her one last time.
“Alive and mine, think of it as p*****t for killing my pathetic cheating w***e of a wife,” the words that came out of Derick’s mouth made Frank feel sick. The combination of his overwhelming pain and guilt was enough for him to start begging.
“Please!”
“Shut up wolf!” Derick shouted out. Frank could barely register that the other man was now standing over him, pointing that gun to his head. Frank closed his eyes and wished he could turn back time and make better decisions. The fatal shot rang out and all he could see was his little girl and his mate in his mind before it went dark.

Derick P.O.V
“Clean up the mess,” Derick shouted out to Isaac. He barely looked over at Kamila’s body before he left the house. He wasn’t happy that she was dead. In fact, he was quite sad about it. Despite the fact that she had a s****l relationship with a wolf, she had been good to him. However, killing the wolf’s mate had been satisfactory, it wouldn’t be enough. Derick hadn’t planned on going back to the pack, but now he would. Derick pushed open the door of the motel room and nodded over at the two men who watched over the young girl.
“Boss?”
“Mmm?”
“She’s been crying non-stop,” Derick waved his hand, dismissing the man’s comment. Of course, the girl would cry, surely, she felt her parent's death. He picked her up and cuddled her against his body.
“Get Laura on the phone,” Derick demanded as he rocked the child gently. Looking down at her innocent face, he felt no anger towards her. She looked peaceful and he felt something towards her. Protection. Derick placed her down on the bed before turning to take the phone out of Isaac’s hand.
“Hello, Derick,”
“Laura, I have a situation here,”
“Oh? What can I do to help?” she asked him, and he smiled.
“I need you to come to collect a child,”
“A shifter pup?”
“Yeah,”
“Why not just kill it?” she questioned, the shock evident in her voice. Derick gazed over the sleeping child.
“She is an innocent,”
“So? Innocence has never stopped you before,” she pointed out. Derick wasn’t in the mood to explain himself.
“Laura, will you collect the child, yes or no?” he waited patiently for her answer and eventually he heard her sigh.
“Yes, I’ll come and collect the child,” she didn’t say anything else and just hung up. He knew she would contact him when she was closer. Derick handed the phone back over and ordered that the child be kept safe until Laura’s arrival. He left the room and went back home, relieved to find that the three bodies had been removed. Derick wasn’t a fool, as much as he controlled the small town, he knew they would ask questions about his wife. He couldn’t stay here, not any longer.
“Boss?” he turned to the one man he knew he could trust.
“Yes, Cody?”
“The car will be around shortly, Cathy has already packed up your personal belongings,”
“Good thank you,” Derick took a seat, waiting for his ride. Normally he wouldn’t attack the pack again but since that wolf had come into his home and killed his wife, he would take revenge out on the pack but this time he would make sure to take it over. He had nothing left to lose.

Laura P.O.V
Laura peeked inside the dimly lit office. She knew that he would be there, despite the time.
“Alpha?”
“Yes, Laura?” stepping inside she went to stand in front of his desk.
“Derick wants me to go and collect a shifter pup,” she announced. It would do her no good to stall. The sooner she informed him, the easier it would be. Alpha Arion stopped working on his papers and looked up at his mate, with a small frown.
“Why?”
“I’m not sure why, I asked him that, but he isn’t giving me any answers,”
“Interesting turn of events then, go and fetch the pup,” he dismissed her, and she hurried back to her room. She wasn’t all that surprised that her mate would allow her to go and collect a pup. Although Laura had to wonder what Derick was up too. Packing a bag, she didn’t waste any time more time than was necessary.
The drive to the small town took her three days. By the time she arrived, she was exhausted. Checking her phone for the address Derick had texted her earlier, she pulled into the parking lot of the motel. Laura spotted Derick almost immediately and rushed forward to embrace him.
“It’s been too long, Laura,” he said to her and she nodded. She was no fool, this man could kill her at any moment.
“Where is the pup?”
“Before I hand over the child, I want to inform you that as soon as she can understand, she is to be informed of her parent's death. I want her to know everything, understand?” Laura eyed him out curiously and when he handed her a large brown envelope, she was curious to know its contents. “Not for your eyes, nor Arion’s. It is for the child, her name is Freya, do not change it,” Derick walked away, and Laura quickly went into the motel room. A small pup lay on the large double bed and Laura nodded over at one of Derick’s men. Picking up the pup as carefully as possible, she turned to the man.
“Bring her stuff to my car,” she left the room and placed the pup in the car. The man came out with a bag and threw it into the back. “Thanks,” she mumbled before getting into the driver's seat and leaving the motel parking lot. The drive home would be a long one and she would stop at the next town to freshen up, but right now she wanted to get as far away from Derick as possible. Laura looked over at the envelope laying on the passenger seat and frowned, wondering what secrets lay inside.
“Mama,” Freya gurgled out cutely. Laura looked at the young pup in the review mirror and couldn’t help but smile. The tiny pup had dark brown eyes and white fluff for hair. She was adorable as she seemed to entertain herself, gurgling and giggle, it made Laura smile as she drove away. It didn’t matter what secrets lay within that envelope. She finally had a pup and she would look after her for as long as Freya needed her. Arion may be a d**k most times, but even he will learn to love the pup.
