Chapter 1
Chapter 1
"Annette? Why are you here?" Roxanne looked surprised when Annette showed up in the study room.
"Why?" Annette asked, puzzled.
"I saw Kyle heading to the dorm with a girl. Wasn't that you?" Roxanne said.
Annette was a college student at a werewolf university. She was lucky and met her mate Kyle here.
Kyle was Alpha's son, from the Crystal Pack. Luna Fiona, his mother, was the president of the university.
Annette and Kyle were an enviable couple at the werewolf university after they realized that they were mates.
Annette wondered why Roxanne asked. Then she felt a sharp pain in her heart, which spread rapidly through her body.
She pressed her chest and fell prone on the table.
"Annette, are you OK?" Roxanne sounded worried.
"I don't know. I felt a sudden pain in my heart and my body," Annette said, her face pale.
Roxanne said, "There are only two explanations, well, quotes from the teachers. First, your mate is dying."
"Dying?" A line etched between Annette's brows. "I don't think so. What about the other one?"
Roxanne hesitated and said awkwardly, "Well, maybe Kyle is cheating on you right now."
"That's impossible!" Annette almost shouted. She tossed her books into her bag and stormed out of the room.
Annette dashed toward Kyle's dorm, her pain growing worse as she ran.
She didn't believe Roxanne. Kyle was her mate and they were perfectly in love.
They were passionate about each other and there was no way that he would cheat on her.
The pain became unbearable as she stood outside Kyle's dorm.
She grasped the doorknob and twisted it slowly.
She walked in. Moans from a man and a woman came through the bedroom.
Annette knew the woman's voice. It belonged to Lena, her friend.
Lena gasped with lust. "Kyle, mark me!"
Annette darted to the bedroom.
She was stunned at the scene. Kyle was in bed with Lena, both of them naked.
Annette's vision blurred. Her eyes flooded with tears.
She heard the thud of pain under her chest, though she still found it hard to believe what was going on.
Lena saw Annette standing in the doorway. She screamed and wrapped herself in the quilt.
Kyle jumped off the bed. Lust faded from his eyes and he panicked.
"Annette, hear me out..."
Annette cut in, "I will reject you, Kyle!"
Kyle shouted, "No!"
Annette wiped her tears and took a few steps back. Then, she turned around and rushed out of Kyle's dorm.
Kyle almost ran after her but halted his steps because he was naked. He roared in rage.
Annette left the university crying. Though the physical pain was gone, her heartache was still killing her.
She was told that the Moon Goddess would choose mates for werewolves. So, the mates were meant for each other.
Just like Adam and Eve.
When she first met Kyle, she felt a bond between them. They called each other "mate" almost spontaneously.
There was a strong connection between the two of them.
Annette had never thought that Kyle would betray her.
She wondered, 'Would Kyle have done it if he'd known how much it would hurt me?'
She shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
Yet she failed. She couldn't get rid of the scene she just ran into. It stuck in her mind.
Annette figured that she needed to get drunk and numb herself.
She walked into a bar in a daze. Teachers from the werewolf university wouldn’t come here, and no one would judge her as a Hybrid or a Rogue.
After a few glasses of wine, she felt better as she was getting tipsy.
A man stepped into the bar at this time.
It was a tall and handsome man.
A bold idea occurred to Annette.
Kyle cheated on her and she wanted to get back at him the same way.
Annette staggered toward the man. Somehow, the man looked familiar. She ignored it since her visions were blurry.
Her brain wasn't working properly at the moment.
She threw herself at the man.
"Do you want to go somewhere?" She looked at him and asked bluntly.
"I hope you won't regret it." The man enveloped Annette.
Annette left the bar with the man. When she woke up, she found herself in bed.
The room was dark, so she could not see his face.
She felt pain as the man panted next to her ear.
She tried to push him away, but all her efforts went in vain.
She couldn't make a sound and hoped that he would stop.
The man's movements were rough, so she passed out again.
It was dawn as she opened her eyes again.
Annette looked around the room and began to remember what happened last night.
She sat up abruptly and felt a pain in her lower body.
The bathroom door was opened.
A man walked out.
She saw his face. It was him! She slumped on the bed, frightened.
The man had a bath towel wrapped around his lower body. He glanced at Annette and said in a cozy tone, "Hey, you."
