Chapter 50Benny handed his sat-phone to Khalid when he felt it vibrate in his pocket. Khalid flipped it open and closed it immediately.
“Didn’t you want to answer it?” Benny was taken aback. “It was Mark. He may have had some news...”
“Yes, perhaps he had, but I don’t want to know what’s happening right now,” Khalid replied.
“Why not?”
“Because, Benny, if Slimane has intervened in any way...”
“What do you mean ‘intervened’? If he’s the one directing this show, he would be observing her from a distance and waiting until she’s out of the way...or...”
“Or what, Benny?”
“I don’t know. He’s asked that she gets out of the country and leave matters alone, so why would he intervene now?”
“I have been asking myself the same question,” Khalid agreed. “I wonder why he wants to protect her.
