Harley - POV - {Larissa}
I avoided Reynolds for a week after he questioned me about the wolf's attraction. I lied to him because I didn't want to feel pressured. My wolf and I had been trying to connect with the moon goddess to help us figure out what was going on with the pull toward Reynolds, but we couldn't connect with her.
Sighing heavily behind my desk, Nissa asked, "Are you alright?"
I replied, "Yeah, I am. Tell me how many patients we have lined up," as I took a sip of my coffee, hoping it would wake me up.
"Ten patients are female and range in age from eighteen to twenty-three," Nissa replied, reviewing the schedule. "These females also sought to tighten their v*****s, restoring virginity."
Hearing Nissa narrate the specifics, I spewed my coffee out of my mouth, and she blinked at my reaction.
"Wait a minute; I have to restore the patient's virginity? They didn't teach me the spell for this procedure, and why would anyone want something like this?" I spat.
"Doctor Larissa, I am being told that you can perform such magic as you are a water magic healer, and they can do any magic and also bring back the dead if you master the magic," Nissa explained.
"That's not what I'm asking, Nissa. Why do they want something like that? I could have understood if only one patient had made such a request, but all ten patients did. Is it not strange?" I inquired.
"Aren't you aware that the Blue Mist Pack held a Luna selection ceremony, and all the potential candidates wanted to participate?" Nissa asked before I could interrupt her.
"What does vaginal tightening have to do with this?" I hissed, irritated. I never read anything like this in the book. It's ludicrous.
"Well, you know these women can do anything to become Luna. They know Alpha Ren likes virgin girls, and they want to be Luna and be loved by Alpha Ren no matter what. Alpha Ren had a lot of popularity among women," I cringed, hearing Nissa talk about how these women wanted Alpha Ren. What was I considering just a moment ago? I tried to push the thought away.
As I read the book, I fell in love with Alpha Ren as my favorite fictional character. He was portrayed so powerfully and cared so much for Abigail, protecting her from his evil mate Larissa. Though he had flings before meeting Abigail, he was loyal to her. I was not too fond of male and female leads; they were jerks, and they were the true villains, not Larissa. When Abigail was poisoned, I realized how twisted this parallel world was.
"So what should I do? Cancel the appointments," I sighed. Why was I blaming these women? In my world, women get many private part surgeries. I shouldn't have such judgmental thoughts. It's the patient's choice of what they want to do with their bodies.
"No, keep the appointments, and I will learn to spell quickly, as it will make it easier to operate the surgery." I quickly grabbed the book and read the spell. I had a good hang of my magic and knew how to balance it.
The surgery was a success, and the patients were happy, paying big money as a tip for Nissa and me. I was happy with the money coming in; it would be a good amount to escape from the clutches of Rachel and Reynold sooner.
I returned home to find Reynold's apartment was still locked; it had been two days since he had gone on a mission to eradicate some thugs who were blackmailing Rachel and her power.
I retired to my bed and tried to stretch my sore body, which had been aching after using an advanced level of magic. A sharp knock came on my door, jolting me out of my sleep. Before I opened the door, I tried to smell the air to confirm the stranger's identity, but the scent was unfamiliar. I opened the door to see Alpha Ren standing with a nasty bruise and gash. I gasped inwardly with shock.
"Are you not a doctor, Larissa Gomes?" he asked, taking the fake surname I mentioned to Abigail.
"Yes," I whispered.
"Heal me, will you, or would you let me die at your door?" he hissed with pain. I jumped into action and held his frame, leading him inside to get the medical kit quickly and heal him, and he moaned in pain.
"How did this happen, Mr.?" I asked, not revealing to Alpha Ren that I knew his identity. At the time, I told Stella to mask her power if she wanted to see me alive and not die like the real Larissa.
"Do you ask your patients everything?" he asked, staring into my eyes. Not meeting his hazel eyes made me nervous, and my heart fluttered.
"No, I wonder why you show up at the doctor's house and not in the clinic?" I asked, changing the subject.
"I'm looking for my mate, Larissa Newt. I met some assholes who wasted my time, alright," he said, and subconsciously, I pressed his wound strongly, and he hissed. I tried not to get swayed by his words or his gaze.
"Sir, you've been treated. You may now leave my house and pay the five hundred gold coins," I said, stepping away from him. Thanks to my disguise, I could feel his gaze on me, but he couldn't recognize me. I was also grateful to Stella for masking my energy so well. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Alpha Ren struggling to determine if I was Larissa Newt or someone else.
"Please, call me Ren, Doctor," he said, flashing a charming smile that could make any woman weak in the knees.
I prayed that Reynold wouldn't appear in the vicinity. If he did, Alpha Ren would be suspicious since Reynold had been with me when Rachel teleported me here.
"I'm sorry, Doctor, but I can't leave just yet. I'm not feeling too well now," Alpha Ren said, standing up on his wobbly legs.
Despite his frail appearance, I knew from reading the book that Alpha Ren could extricate himself from difficult situations. Why was he acting so weak? Could it be that he was scheming to remain close to me?
I walked up to check on his health, but I lost my footing and stumbled into Alpha Ren's sturdy frame, accidentally kissing his lips.
Alpha Ren could hear my heart beating fast. I quickly pulled away, but I could see the haze in his eyes. Had he sensed my wolf or our mate bond? He took a step towards me, and I instinctively stepped back. It was then that Alpha Ren realized who I was.
