Chapter Two

Bella This wasn’t where I belonged. Thirty minutes in Abi’s dorm room and I knew it. She was nothing like my friends at home. In fact she was the total opposite to them. She was the kind of girl I had spent my life avoiding. And her friends were even worse. Thirty minutes and my head was already pounding from all the screeching giggling going on. I was so not a girly girl. And this so wasn’t the kind of girly night I was used to. They were all dressed up like they were hitting a club and I was dressed in yoga pants and my favourite over sized t-shirt. Glancing at my phone, I totally missed Abi’s question. “Sorry what?” “I said.” Abi rolled her eyes. “I like your shirt… it’s super cute but dressing like that won’t get you into the house of sins…” she smoothed her hands down her skin tight tank top and jeans. Why did it sound less like a compliment and more like she was taking the piss? On the bed a brunette with boobs that defied gravity laughed, her head thrown back so her long hair fell between her shoulder blades. “Like she has a chance of getting in anywhere.” “Yeah why is she even here?” I couldn’t help it, my eyes lowered. I didn’t belong here , I had been right and these girls weren’t my friends. They weren’t even people who I would want to be friends with if I was honest. Laughter filled the room. “I think maybe I should go.” It had been a bad idea coming here. Wearily I stood, stretching my arms above my head as I yawned. I should have stayed in my room and just settled in. I wasn’t a social butterfly and I sure as hell wasn’t here to make friends. At least that wasn’t the most important part of my university journey. “You don’t have to… we could give you a make over.” Abi sounded sickly sweet again. “You could be our little project.” Had she really just said I could be her experiment like I was some sort of social reject? Like I was .. I couldn’t even think the words. How was it possibly that this was already so much like high school? Full of fake ass bitches. “No thank you.” “We could start with this T-shirt.. I mean where did you get it? A charity shop?” Her lip curled in disgust as she fingered the frayed hem. “I love this shirt.” “Of course you do but….” “I like that shirt, Faith has one just like it.” The Male voice sounded from the doorway. And all pairs of eyes swivelled in that direction. My mouth fell open as my eyes climbed up the muscular frame, from his trainers , up the jeans and university hoody until I reached the prettiest eyes and the shiniest deepest auburn hair I had ever seen. He had spoke to the entire room but his eyes were full on me. Abi squealed. “Jasper , you came.” She giggled like a school girl, rushing towards him. Only stopping when he shot her a look. “You invited me, said there was a party.” His eyes swept around the room. His full lip curled. “Doesn’t look much like a party Abi…” “Ohh we thought you might like a private party?” His eyes darkened as her words sank in and then he frowned. Jesus the girl was a slut. She had invited him because she thought he might want an orgy? Abi had been willing to sleep with him to get into this notorious house of night? Just what kind of skank did that? “You know I am in a relationship right.” His eyes bored into hers. “And even if I wasn’t in love with Faith. Which I am. You aren’t my type.” His eyes fell on me. And the frown deepened the little line between his eyes rows even more as he studied me. “I like my girls with a bit more originality.” Suddenly he smiled. And it lit his face from within. “I’m Jasper and I love your shirt.” I blushed I couldn’t help it. He was gorgeous and older. And totally out of my league. Not that he was flirting . He had already said he had a girlfriend he loved. “Bella and thank you.” ”You’re new?” His eyes were searching my face as if he was looking for something. He looked confused. “My first day… look I was just leaving so…” I brushed passed him and it was like we were both electrocuted. He stumbled backwards , his eyes wide. I crashed forward and only hitting the wall stopped me going down hard. What the hell was that? “I’ll walk you back to your room Bella.” He straightened but this time he didn’t look at me. He looked at his fingernails. And then down to his shoes. “Thanks but it’s only …” “I insist.” Jaspers voice was commandingZ. Behind me Abi hissed. “f*****g slut.” There were murmurs all around as her friends agreed with her. “Friends don’t go back to their room with the guy who their friend likes.” Someone added and I turned. What the hell were they going on about. Jasper had a girlfriend so why was Abi acting like a jilted lover? “Ignore them,” jaspers hand on the small of my back kept my feet moving towards the door. Abi nodded her head. “Well she’s definitely not my friend so that makes her my enemy.” Was she actually for real? It was only my first day in Nine Oaks and I had already made a friend and lost her. It was going to be a rollercoaster going to school here. I could already tell.
