Hannah POV
When the class ended, Hannah wanted to head to the library, since she's living in that run down shed. She didn't have to run home everyday, when she was walking down the long hallway Penny and Hannah ran up to her, Heather, can we ask you something, she stopped surprised, "sure ask away," Penny smiled at her, I'm only asking because we care, are you ok at home. Are you being hurt, is someone beating you, Heather was stunned by the questions, she pulled her hoodie tighter, she set down on the bench infront of the library, they set down beside her, "Do you really care," or are you just going to make fun of me?" Hannah touched Heather's hand, "we care Heather," holding her head down tears started coming down her face, she just couldn't hold them back anymore, my mother has been beating me for serval years now, my father died when I was twelve, when I turned sixteen that's when it all started, she said it was All my fault that he died, so the beatings started, most of the time I don't eat. And last night she brought a strange man home, kicking me out into the shed out back, only beating me more, until I was knocked out, when I came to, I heard them talking they was going to use me, I know there will be men coming tonight, mom said hundred dollars each time, I've decided I'm running away, my book bag has some clothes in it, but when I get a job, I can get more, I don't want to go back there, they wouldn't miss me anyway, Penny and Hannah looked at each other, Heather, go to the library, we will be back in one hour, do not go anywhere ok, I promise we will come back for you, she nodded as she got up, Hannah reached for her arm, I promise noone will ever hurt you again, just give us one hour, she once again nodded as she opened the door to the library, waking inside, asking the librarian if she could use the computer,
A few minutes later she was sitting infront of the computer tapping away, looking at places were she could go, and people that might be related to her, she finally decided to do her home work, the teacher told them to look up myths about werewolves, so she typed in a few words and she begain to read,,
It’s unclear exactly when and where the werewolf legend originated. Some scholars believe the werewolf made its debut in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known Western prose, when Gilgamesh jilted a potential lover because she had turned her previous mate into a wolf.
Werewolves made another early appearance in Greek mythology with the Legend of Lycaon. According to the legend, Lycaon, the son of Pelasgus, angered the god Zeus when he served him a meal made from the remains of a sacrificed boy. As punishment, the enraged Zeus turned Lycaon and his sons into wolves.
Werewolves also emerged in early Nordic folklore. The Saga of the Volsungs tells the story of a father and son who discovered wolf pelts that had the power to turn people into wolves for ten days. The father-son duo donned the pelts, transformed into wolves and went on a killing rampage in the forest. Their rampage ended when the father attacked his son, causing a lethal wound. The son only survived because a kind raven gave the father a leaf with healing powers.
Giles at the stake for his monstrous crimes.
Whether Burgot, Verdun or Garnier were mentally ill, acted under the influence of a hallucinogenic substance or were simply cold-blooded killers is up for debate. But it likely didn’t matter to superstitious Europeans during the 16th century. To them, such heinous crimes could only be committed by a horrific beast such as the werewolf.
Peter Stubbe, a wealthy, fifteenth-century farmer in Bedburg, Germany, may be the most notorious werewolf of them all. According to folklore, he turned into a wolf-like creature at night and devoured many citizens of Bedburg.
Peter was eventually blamed for the gruesome killings after being cornered by hunters who claimed they saw him shape-shift from wolf to human form. He experienced a grisly execution after confessing under torture to savagely killing animals, men, women and children—and eating their remains. He also declared he owned an enchanted belt that gave him the power to transform into a wolf at will. Not surprisingly, the belt was never found.
Peter’s guilt is controversial since some people believe he wasn’t a killer but the victim of a political witch hunt—or perhaps a werewolf-hunt. Either way, the circumstances surrounding his life and death stoked rampant fears at the time that werewolves were on the loose.
Some legends maintain werewolves shape-shifted at will due to a curse. Others state they transformed with the help of an enchanted sash or a cloak made of wolf pelt. Still others claim people became wolves after being scratched or bit by a werewolf.
In many werewolf stories, a person only turns into a wolf when there’s a full moon—and that theory may not be far-fetched. According to a study conducted at Australia’s Calvary Mater Newcastle hospital, a full moon brings out the “beast” in many humans. The study found that of the 91 violent, acute behavior incidents at the hospital between August 2008 and July 2009, 23 percent happened during a full moon.
Patients attacked staff and displayed wolf-like behaviors such as biting, spitting and scratching. Although many were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, it’s unclear why they became intensely violent when the moon was full.
As she kept reading on,
she found other things about werewolves, there not as vicious as some say, they look for there life mate protecting there family and pack, they welcomed new comers and hid from humans, though they look like humans, they have different scents then humans do, they walk around town as humans, and sometimes even own bussniess, she wondered if there was s such things as vampires and were bears she was curious so she typed in a few words and everything started coming up on the screen,
Vampires are evil and drink from humans they can turn into bats or wolves, they can't what they say they can't walk in the day time, but they surly can, they can live amongst humans, abd only feed when they want to, there not really evil some are not,
she was so into reading, she didn't see Penny or Hannah come up behind her, they stood there for a few minutes, before they tapped her on the shoulder. Heather screamed in almost fell out of the chair, they all started laughing, we're sorry Heather, we been waiting out side for a few hours now, we got worried so we came looking for you,
Hannah cleared her throat, "my Uncle Seth said you could come in stay with us, we have plenty of room, we have a huge family, so you will be very welcome, Heather's eyes widen," really?" She sighed loudly, I was going to get a hotel room for tonight, close by here so I can come to class tomorrow, but I can save my money up now, she turned toward the computer turning it off. Standing up, "can we go?" I've been reading so much my eyes feel like there cross eyed, "of course let's get out of here, she thanked Susie and they left, it was only a twenty minute drive to the pack house, Heather's eyes widen again, her mouth dropped open, oh my god your house is huge, how many houses do you have, they laughed, we have many there for our families, come on let's go so you can meet Seth, knocking on his door, they heard footsteps, then the turn of the doorknob, then the door opened, Heather's head went straight up, the man before her was almost as tall as the door he just opened, he looked down at her with his Hazel Green eyes , "So you must be Heather," "it's a pleasure to meet you" let's go in my office and we can talk,
