CHAPTER 4

Seth's Ambiguity THIRD PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW He will give him a chance, that's what Seth decided but up until he reached the room he's staying at, he can't help but feel bothered by his decision. He once promised himself that he will never let himself get involved with an alpha yet here he is, married to one. With a deep sigh, he opened the cabinets filled with branded clothes slightly bigger than his size. He is confident to wear these clothes since he directly asked Sun if he put something in his room or in his clothes, it was idiotic to ask him face-to-face because if Sun wanted to, he can lie to him — but he still asked him. Sun told him that the room and everything in it is ordinary, there is nothing that he should be worried about, he didn't trust him, yes, he doesn't, but Seth believed him nonetheless because he doesn't have much of a choice, either he continues to walk around the gigantic mansion with the same clothes he wore yesterday, and they're dirty. Seth changed into a pair of pants and a white polo-shirt, they're all from a famous luxury clothing brand, to think that the entire cabinet is filled with them as if they've bought from a local store blew Seth's mind. One piece of each cloth is worth twice his salary as an author and webcoon creator. Once done, Seth trotted down the first floor where Clark is waiting at the end of the staircase, as usual, Clark bowed to him before he gestured him to follow him to the huge door, the main door of the mansion. "Master Sun will arrive shortly after he fetches his car, would you like to have something while waiting?" Clark asked while walking in the same formal and polite manner. Seth shakes his head politely but awkwardly. He can't get used to how formal Sun's butler is, as if he's been a butler ever since he was born, not a single thing can be missed. Clark reminded Seth of mangas he would ready whenever he had the time with a butler as a character, they're the epitome of perfection when it comes to taking care of people. They know what to do, what to say, and how to do it. "If that is the case, then, please take care, Master Seth." Seth cringes internally out of surprise. He really can't get used to him. After a short while, just like what butler Clark said, a good five minutes or so passed when Sun arrived riding a white car bearing a familiar-looking car. I'm riding this? Seth gasped to himself. Not once did he dreamed of seeing in person, or riding a car from a famous and exclusive luxury car brand, Halis. Each car is worth millions of dollars, Seth wouldn't want to know how much Sun's Halis car is. "Seth, hop in!" Sun belted from inside the car while lowering the window of the passenger seat. Seth obliged, once settled, his and Sun's eyes met through the rearview mirror. Seth looked away. "Sorry, I'm still not comfortable being too close with you. I —" He was cut off by Sun's small laughter. "It's fine. I'm already glad you let me accompany you to your apartment." Again, he doesn't have much of a choice, not when he looked so excited upon the mention of his personal space. Seth doesn't have the heart to refuse him when he offered to drive him there when he looked like a kid, most importantly, this would be a perfect chance to observe what kind of man Sun is aside from being a rich, flirty kidnapper— turned out the husband of his. The ride alone from the mansion took almost thirty minutes before they reached the main road of the subdivision. Seth busied himself with the sceneries they passed by, from the big houses, mansions to tall buildings with busy people passing by, he immersed himself observing that he didn't notice the car stopped after two hours. "You have reached your destination." Seth slightly jumped from the male voice that resonated with the car. "Sorry about that." Sun apologized with an almost shy smile. "It's artificial intelligence for the car that the company is developing, I wanted to try it out in this new car. Sorry for surprising you." He added laced with sincerity new to Seth. He never heard of an alpha who speaks gently like how Sun speaks as if he's not alpha. That is one thing that Seth noticed even before, Sun has this air of humility around him, always. As if he's not an alpha that is taught to be dominant, domineering, and tyrannical. As prejudice as it may sound, Seth expected Sun to be worse than other alphas considering how wealthy he is. I wonder how he was raised. His parents must be kind people. Seth thought. There is still the lingering suspicion and doubt about who and what kind of person Sun is but Seth will admit that he never fails to surprise him. Upon reaching the apartment, Seth opened it and told Sun to follow him inside, it would be too weird to keep him waiting outside. "Have a seat," He gestured to Sun the simple living room. "Wow," Sun breathed looking around, "Is this really your apartment? It's so small, I can't believe how people live in places like this." That... That sounded really insulting but there is no hint of insult or malice from Sun's tone, just plain curiosity that's why Seth is unsure of what to really feel. Without saying anything, Seth moved to the adjacent kitchen and opened the fridge, seeing its contents, Seth abruptly shut it again. There's nothing... There is nothing for him to offer for Sun, no snack nor drinks, none. He gulped hiding his embarrassment to himself before he strutted back to Sun holding a glass of cold water while he's feeling cold of embarrassment too. "Here," he placed the glass of water in front of Sun, "I have nothing else to offer except for a glass of water." He stated without looking at Sun, though he's not looking, he can feel Sun's eyes shifting from his face to the glass of water. "It's fine, just drinking the same water you drink is enough by me," Sun replied. Surprised by that response, Seth couldn't help but glance at Sun who is enjoying his glass of water as if it's an expensive wine while he's looking around the apartment as if he's inside a ten-starred hotel. His eyes are shining with unfathomable expression, a hint of happiness and satisfaction with a mix of curiosity. "How long have you been living here?" Sun asked him while he is busy organizing the already organized magazines. "Me?" He repeated stupidly, "ah, I've been here for seven years already. I moved from the floor below to here according to the landlord's suggestion." He informed then stood up to get his travel bag and started to pack some of his clothes and one of his shoes, he did not forget his laptop that he needs for his book and also his iPad where he draws his illustrations, the stuff he bought with him last time when he was kidnapped got lost so he has to buy those again especially the heat suppressants. After packing his gadgets and his other stuff, he closed his room's door then turned to Sun who's now standing and walking around still holding the glass of wine. Sun turned to him upon hearing the door closed, his face shone. "You done?" Seth looked away before nodding his head. "Let me help you with that," Sun suddenly appeared offering his hand to help him. Unable to decline, Seth handed him the travel bag containing his clothes while he has the backpack with his gadgets. Once Seth made sure that his apartment is properly closed and safe for him to leave for several months, he talked to the landlord living on the top floor about his disappearance when Sun offered something ridiculous. "Yes, we'll be paying for the months he won't be here," Sun said. His eyes widen while looking at the money disguised as a man. He pinched him without knowing. "What are you doing?" He asked with a subtle glare because the landlord is just across the table. "I'm paying for your apartment," he responded in an as-a-matter-of-fact tone. "I won't be here for three months," Seth grumbled sternly proving his point. Sun's eyebrow crinkled, "your point?" He asked genuinely unsure of his point. Seriously. What the heck. Seth almost runs a hand on his face feeling somewhat frustrated. The power of money, really. Seth gripped his shoulder to make Sun face him. "Listen, what I want to say is, you don't need to pay for my apartment for three months because I won't be living here. It's pointless since I'm living with you." Slowly; Sun nods his head. Finally, he's able to understand what he meant. "But you left your things in your apartment. If you're living with me, who will live in your apartment?" Or so I thought. Seth grumbled under his breath. He understands what Sun is concerned about but just as he said, it's no longer Sun's concern but his. He has to pay after three months including the months he's away, meaning, he will have to pay four months in total when he comes back after their agreement but Sun need not know about that. This is his decision and he will bear the responsibility alone. "That, my stuff will stay in the apartment, there's no need for you to worry about that." He urged while nodding his head on Sun to encourage him. The longer this conversation goes on, the more Sun will realize what he really wanted. Just as he fears, Sun's forehead creases while looking at him. "I can't let you pay for your apartment fees three months later." Sun bellowed. Damn..! Now that Sun knows, what can he do? Still, he can't let Sun pay for him. It's just not right no matter how he looks at it. With a shake of his head, Seth released Sun's shoulder from his grip which tightened without his knowledge. "I can pay for myself. I have money." He insisted. "So am I," fired Sun casually, "I have more money than you right now." He added. Again, it sounded arrogant but the way Sun said it doesn't hold any arrogance or anything of that sort, in fact, he's simply stating a fact. Seth looked away with a heaved sigh. The truth is, he wants to smack all of Sun's senses for him to understand just what he meant, it may be true that he is financially lacking than him, the gap of their financial capacity is like between the ends of the north and south pole but Seth's stern belief of his ability and living independently all this time, he can't let Sun spend his money for him when he can manage himself. "Sun," he called, and hearing his name from his lips made the latter visibly jolt clearly surprised, "I know that you are rich and everything but I said I'm fine, I can pay for my rent so please, just let me be." He voiced sternly with a serious and determined expression on his face. Sun looks at him for a couple of seconds before he softly sighs. "I know... I understand, sorry for being stubborn, I just thought that I could at least do this for you since I'm your, ah...!" Sun then looked away with a muddled expression then scratches his cheek before he chuckles lightly and then faced the landlord who is looking at them without a hint of amusement, if anything, the landlord looks annoyed, well, Seth understands since they've been talking as if it's just the two of them, the landlord must have felt left out. "I'll go out then, I'll wait for you outside," Sun stated and without waiting for his response, Sun left quietly while Seth just watches his back as he leaves feeling a bit bothered by the change in Sun's mood and disposition.  Seth knew that the change in Sun's disposition just now was because of what he said, he looked so enthusiastic about being with him and assisting him to his apartment, and although Seth appreciates his effort and thought, it wouldn't change the fact that for Seth, all this is because he agreed to their contract, for Seth, this is simply doing what he said, an obligation. This is not because he wants to but because he needed to, because he gave his word. That's all. Chance?  Yeah right, he said he would give Sun a chance but how can he when the moment he looks at Sun and realizes he's an alpha, someone dangerous and someone not meant to be close to, he remembers what their situation is. It's like Seth is stuck in two gigantic rocks waiting to collide with each other while he's in the middle, he's confused about his own decision, was this right?  It's between the contract or his fear of the alpha. His own feelings unknown, the only thing he knows is he has to do this. AFTER they spent some time in his apartment, Sun brought him to a mall he never once stepped in, the CS MALL. The reason? It's simple. This mall is for VIPs, well not the entire mall actually.  The mall is comprised of seven floors including the ground floor, from the ground floor to the second floor, it's available for ordinary folks, meaning it's for everyone, the rich, poor, beggars, everyone, then from the third floor to the seventh floor, it's for the VIP, from what he heard, the sixth floor to the seventh floor also has sections for VVIP, super fancy, Seth knows and that is also the reason why he's now staring mouth agape at the sign of the mall. While the mall only has seven floors compared to other towering malls out there, its size in terms of how wide it is, CS Mall something not to be underestimated with a land area of 30 hectares with over three-hundred shops from the ground floor to the second floor only and various dining establishments. "Here? We're shopping here?" He questions Sun still at the mall in awe. He never once considered shopping in this mall even though it accommodates ordinary people because there are thousands of people in this mall too every day, it's too crowded for Seth. Sun nodded his head at him with a simple smile. Sun is now back to his usual sunny attitude although Seth can feel that he is being cautious in a way especially with what he says, for example, like this.  "Where do you intend to go first? Is there anything you'd like to buy? Oh, look there, that is a new shop, would you like to check it out?" Sun's fired him questions with extreme politeness and courtesy to the point that Seth does not know how to respond. This feels like he's talking to royalty. Indeed. The way Sun talks is like how his butler, Clark, talks to him and it's making Seth feel self-conscious and awkward. Sun may be back to being cheerful but it doesn't feel right at all! It's very obvious to Seth how Sun is trying so hard to be, how should he address Sun's way, ah right, Sun is being way too considerate that it's awkward. Must be because of what happened. Seth already knows the reason. It's because of what happened back in his apartment. Sun is doing his best for him, to accommodate him and make him feel at ease but here he is, complaining and everything, thinking negatively over every little thing. Isn't this my decision? It's his decision but he's being overly paranoid. If he's being honest he's still very confused, he's still not used to the entire situation but... He watches Sun while the latter is busy talking to a salesman, their eyes met for a moment because Sun glanced his way before he resumed talking. It was just for a brief moment but Sun did not forget to smile at him.  He's checking on me as if I'm a small child. Though he is indeed younger than Sun and this is his first time in the CS Mall, treating him like a child... why does Seth finds it somewhat... pleasant? "Let's go?" Sun suddenly appeared in front of him holding a paper bag. Seth nodded his head softly while behind Sun. Unable to stop himself, he softly tugged Sun's shirt to stop him from walking. When Sun looked back at him, because he is looking at his face directly Seth witnessed how surprised etched at Sun's expression before he looked away while clearing his throat and with a red face. Why is his face so red? Is it too hot for Sun? "Seth," he called.  Seth blinked snapping from his trance. "Ahem, uh, I'm sorry for being too stern back then. I know I said I'd give you a chance but I'm being too, you know, I'm so confused I can't wrap my head around this situation just yet. Sorry for dismissing your good intention..." He apologized, he wanted to say a lot but considering that all his muddled thoughts will be voiced out to Sun is still uncomfortable for him, Seth reigned himself. He also can't exactly say that he is someone playing his part and going with the glow while Sun is being serious, it will surely break Sun's heart, somehow, Seth does not want that and he doesn't know why. "It's... okay now." he beamed with a wide grin. Sun mindlessly grabbed Seth's hand and tugged him closer to his surprising Seth on the process especially because this is out of what he expected.  He wanted to pull away but with how tight Sun is holding his hand, he chooses not to. Seth personally doesn't know what to feel having his handheld by an alpha for the first time but...this might not be so bad...
