Soon the waiter arrived and took our orders. After giving our orders Justin who was the basketball team captain spoke to me, “So, Siya what are you planning to do now that you are graduated?” he asked.
“Me, I got a job offer in New York, in a private school. What about you?” I reply and ask him back.
“I got a job offer in San Francisco,” he says in a low voice.
“That’s great it’s just three hours’ drive from here, you can visit home whenever you want,” I said in full excitement. I wanted a job near my home, but I didn’t get anywhere near here, but its ok, because the pay in New York is good.
“Ya that’s a great thing,” he says not looking at me. Which felt wired, but I just let it pass.
Justin was the basketball team captain from our batch. He was the most down to earth person. Unlike all the stereo typical captains, Justin was a great person. He was good towards everyone and a great person. He is also quite handsome. He used to hang out with us usually, because he is Troy’s best friend.
I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Kate called my name, “So, Siya, you got a job in a school?” she asks in a mocking way.
“Yep, unlike others who are planning to relay on their parents for the next of their life, I actually got a job which pays me well,” I say with a smirk on my face. Kate’s face instantly turns red with anger. From what we had spoken from the time we sat down, I heard Kate say that she was not bothered about finding a job, because apparently her parents have money and she can live in that money.
Hearing my reply most of them started to laugh.
Soon the food arrived, and we all dug in. We a little spoke while we ate and after we were done, we all split the bill and payed. Then we all left the café.
Lara had to buy something, so she and Troy went to get it, I stayed near the car as I was tired to walk with them.
“Siya, you still here,” I saw Justin ask and come towards me.
“Ya, Lara had to buy something so both went to get it,” I answered, for which he gave a nod.
“So, when are you leaving for New York?” he asked me.
“In a week,” I answered.
“That fast? Why, you told you got a job at school,” He asked.
“Ya, school starts after a month, am just going with Lara, her job starts in two weeks, along with that we will settle down completely,” I answered.
“Ho… that’s great, so you guys will be staying together, right,” he asked with a smile.
“Yes, we will, we will be staying in her aunts’ home so it will be more fun,” I say just imagining the fun things we would be doing.
“Wish I would be with you,” he says with a low voice.
“Pardon me?” I ask, not being sure about what I heard.
“I mean even I would get a job where my best friend had got a job,” he says with a wired smile on his face, “Anyways, see you soon, goanna miss you Siya,” he says, that last part in a low voice.
“Goanna miss you to Justin,” I say and give him a side hug, I feel his body become stiff for a second, but he relaxed and hugged me. We said our goodbyes and then he left. After sometimes Lara and Troy came with a bag filled with snacks.
“Are those for me,” I asked eying the bag filled with snacks.
“Back off, these are not for you, Lauran wanted these for her camp,” she answers. Lauran was Lara’s sister; she is 17 years old.
“But, it’s too much for a single person,” I say, still eyeing the bag.
“If you want these, you should ask Lauran itself,” she says with a smirk, she very well knows Lauran would never share her snacks, she in facts has a sticker in all her snack containers stating ‘LAURAN DOSEN’T SHARE FOOD’ in literally all capital letters.
I just give her a “you are kidding right’ look and say, “You know she will never share her food.”
“Not my problem,” she says and sits in the backseat of the car, killing my last hope of eating some snacks.
“What? I can’t risk her sitting alone with the snacks,” she says and Troy chuckles. I just stand there and pout.
“Ok don’t cry now. Here I got you a chocolate bar, happy?” she me a chocolate bar with I take smiling like a kid and get sit on the passenger seat. They just laugh and Lara says, “See didn’t I tell you she will act like a small kid when I give her the chocolate,”
“Yes, you did tell babe, my sister indeed looks like a small kid, in fact she is a small kid, isn’t she,” Troy says in the middle of laughing.
“hey!! Am not a kid, in fact am two months older than you both, so you better show me some respect,” I jokingly to them.
“Show respect, to you? I would like to see pigs fly instead of showing to you my dear bestie,” Lara says and laughs harder.
“You broke my heart,” I say in a dramatic tone placing my hand and my heart.
“Awww… Look Lara you made my sister cry” Troy said in a teasing tone.
“Really, but I can’t see any tears?” Lara says still laughing.
“I hate you”, I whine like a little kid.
“Lying is bad, Siya. I know you love me a LOT,” Lara says hugging me from the back seat, and continues, “I love you more” she says and kisses my head from behind.
“Sometimes am jealous of you both,” Troy says.
“Whatever.” Lara and I say and ignore him.
Soon Troy starts the car and drop me to my home.
When I enter the house, I see a man facing his back on me, when he turned, I was beyond shocked and….
