Chapter 10Thandi rose early the next morning and dressed before the dawn. Her daughter would be taking the grandchildren to school today. At 5.30 am there was a toot outside her door and she went out to the ageing Volkswagen Kombi. SS owned the minibus and was behind the wheel. She greeted the others as she climbed in and was welcomed with the smell of coffee from an open flask. Laurel passed her a cup and Baye handed her a box of Ouma rusks. White people’s food was not the best, but it was filling.
