The storm had worsened again Benedict noted glumly as he stared out into the late afternoon gloom. The clouds were thick and black and with the pouring rain came thrashing wind. It matched his mood. So far, he had not been introduced to his new guard, but he supposed it would happen eventually. Next Henry would have him shackled to the wall. It was indeed burdensome at times to be related to the king and his spawn. Most illegitimate children did not have this constant influence in their lives, but Benedict had been fortunate, or it had seemed at the time, to be raised along with the king’s proper children.
