22. I'm not alive.

Alexa- "What is the need to care about him so much!? Can't you see how he hates me near you!?" Diego asks with a frown settled on his face. I control myself from smiling and move closer to him. I wrap my hands around his neck and get close to his face. "Are you jealous?" I ask. "He doesn't need to be that close to you. And why does he hate me around you? I'm not going to go anywhere if he hates it or not." He says wrapping his hands around my waist. "He doesn't hate it. It is just new to him. I'm not really dating kind, you know. I never dated because I believed that no one would understand my problem of nightmares. I have them every night. It's either I sleep with someone or I need to take sleeping pills." I say. "You get nightmares?" He asks with concern clear in his beautiful eyes. "Yes. And with that, I need to tell you what I see. Okay, so, you told me not to travel back in my past life and know what really happened. Though I want to know it all, I will not go against you. But you need to tell me the meaning of my nightmares and also the reason how you are still alive." I say looking at him with the hope that he will open up to me. Diego heaves a sigh and places a kiss on my forehead before a shrill noise fills the air.  I turn around quickly only to find a black cat on the bedside table. It has made the vase kept on the table fall and the vase is now in tiny pieces.  "Meow..." The cat voices out with its big green eyes. And I remember that it is the cat from the night when I had caught Diego holding it upside down.  I just chuckle at this sudden intruder while Diego is looking at her with hard eyes. I look at the cat and it flinches from Diego's glare and runs away outside the room. "Hey! Why did you scare it?" I ask him. "It doesn't matter. Let's get back to our conversation. So, for how am I still alive..." He starts talking while moving to the bed and we sit down side by side. "I am not alive." He says and my breath hitches in my throat. "What do you mean?" I ask. "I'm not alive. I'm able to be in my body because of a spell. I had many loyal people back then and though they are not still alive, their progeny continued and they passed their skills to their children or I must say, daughters. The man of the family starts their own family but the daughters never forget and so the people from then passed on their skills to their daughters. Even they knew that our story isn't over." He says smiling at me as I listen to him intently and wonder who these people are. "Who are these people?" I ask him. "Well, there were many. But the one to raise me up and the one one who knew I'd not die until I get you and the one who knows the magic is no other than Gina, my nanny." He says and it hits me that I've heard this name. And I remember Alexandra... I mean myself talking about the lady to the maids when I was dressing up for my marriage to Diego.   "I do remember her. I heard her name when I was in my past life. She took care of you and raised you." I say. "Did you just witness that or something else too?" He asks. "No, just that. But is there anything else to know?" I ask him. "No. Not really. So... where were we? Ha! So... with the help of the magic that she has passed on to her daughter and then her daughter had passed on to her daughter and so on, I'm able to touch you, to feel you and be watched by you. I got help from Gina's fourth-generation in this. But I must tell you, my love, that it won't be for long and I must leave this mortal world soon. Being living freely for a few centuries, I feel trapped in this body because I'm not meant to be in it since I'm dead. I only came because I recognized your soul the day you came near to the castle. After that, I was the one who blew all of your tents so that you could again come to me. And the next day, I came here with few people as their owner." He finishes speaking while I just look at him as he has grown two faces. "Speak something, Alexandra." He says pleading. "You are not alive?" I ask still sitting like a statue. "No, I'm not. I just took on my body so that I could get you back and take you with me." He says and I frown deeper. "Where do you want to take me?" I ask him. "To heaven, baby. You and me, we both will stay together there. With no enemies and no one to question our relation, no one to give us unnecessary advice, and no one to ruin our lives with their vile intentions." He says cupping my cheeks. I understand his desperation and his love for me. And probably that is why here I am questioning myself on how could I get a man like him? A man as beautiful inside-out as him.  "What would we have to do for that?" I ask him and he looks down. "That is something I'd explain to you later." He says kissing my forehead. "I don't know how would it sound right now. And I don't think if I'd be able to handle it if you say 'No'." He says sadly. "I won't," I assure him but he shakes his head. "It is not something small, Alexandra. Just remember to spend as much time you can with your friends because afterward the memories only remain. Let's get closer and then when I know you'd agree to me, I'll tell you, huh?" He asks and I nod smiling up at him. "And what about my nightmares? Why do I always see two men fighting over a girl?"
